matt black Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 Looks like FX. Best to step away from this one Quote
Obievon[501st] Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 Yes it looks to be FX. Quote
Spectre Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 (edited) Rule no. 1 as far as I am concerned: AVOID EBAY/Other such sites. Rule no. 2: If it says '501st approved' it is BS. Even if it is assembled and IS currently approved that approval won't carry onto you. Also even if it is approved and they are selling it, it could be 10 years old and approved by the standards from the, meaning possible more work to get approved than a kit would take. Therefore: avoid this one. Edited September 14, 2012 by Spectre Quote
Darth Hilarious Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 (edited) Spectre is spot-on. From the picture, that may very well BE an approved kit- BUT It is not the suit that gets approved, it is the suit on the wearer/owner. This is because the suit must properly fit the wearer for the costume to be approved. For a really good example. Me and Spectre both have approved suits. He's quite a big boy (over 6' and solidly built) I'm a 5'10 stick If we swapped suits His would look hilarious on me And mine would probably choke him to death if he managed to get into it in the first place That's why you have to get approval, even for an already 501st suit (also standards get raised) "You can buy a suit, but you can't buy approval." Griffin-X[TK] Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 Yeah...FX, and the "501st approved" comments always crack me up. As stated above, it comes down to the setup, fit, and wearer for approval. Quote
RogueTrooper[TK] Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 Everyone above hit every mark on the nose....Plus IMO, $1300 way too much for FX,,,,, BTW are they selling the Maul??? Quote
TrooperJay Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 Yes definitely FX, stay far away, I've heard stories from friends of mine who have been conned on criagslist and ebay. Thankfully I found the guys here at white armor to direct me to some great sellers here. Quote
DarkTrooper[TK] Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 If it comes with the Darth Maul full sized statue pictured next to it then maybe it might be worth it. Quote
