TK bondservnt[501st] Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 I'm looking for a metal scope and rail. does anyone have this type of part? or information on how to make it accurate? cmon tango help a guy out here! Quote
gh05ty Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 Im guessing youve allready tried contacting Steve (tango'd) Vern hes the only person i kknow of who had all parts for ROTJ E11's Quote
Darth Hilarious Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 If he takes a while to get hold of, be patient. It took me a while to get my ESB stunt greeblie kit, but he came through with the goods. Quote
JackSpratt Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 I had a message with Tango'd early July. He said he still made the ESB kits, I said I'll have a couple please but I haven't heard back. Hopefully he'll drop in and say hello. Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted August 31, 2012 Author Report Posted August 31, 2012 (edited) thanks gents. I have 2 ESB kits from steve, and a resin ROTJ kit. so I have resin scope, rail and door catch and hammers. I was thinking that sskunky would have a line on how to get the right scope and mount? was the rail resin or a metal after market part? I'm looking for the REAL metal scope and plastic mount? and if anyone has done metal greeblies? having tango's sculpts might cause me to make my own sculpts and have them done in metal? since I don't want to recast his work to make my own metal versions. the scope's brand and make would really help? info on how to cut it down? any line on the hammers and door catch real world parts would be what I'm looking for here. gh05ty Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 ahhh i see.... if i remember correctly the hammers were believed to be from a winchester rifle of some type and the sight part at the front of the scope rail was the actual sight from a pistol used to make one of the blasters in the movie but again i cant remember which or where i read this (poss the RPF) i dont think the catch or rail have been identified yet, but im very interested in how you get on here as i still need these same parts for my ROTJ scratch build. TK bondservnt[501st] Posted August 31, 2012 Author Report Posted August 31, 2012 well I have parts from steve, and he did a great job of sculpting them. since I have an MGC I was thinking it needs the real things on it! does anyone have a line on the brand of scope? Quote
gh05ty Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 As you said Mark (sskunky) may know more as he was going the same route with an MGC recently Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted September 1, 2012 Author Report Posted September 1, 2012 (edited) I figured he could cover the EU and I could cover NAmerica. it's my plan to create my own versions of metal and resin replicas. I want a lot of details you just can't get unless you have the real thing. it's not impossible to make working triggers and moving bolts, as an example. so does anyone have a line on the original ROTJ scope and rail? (ie. the original parts, and how to cut them down?) Edited September 1, 2012 by TK Bondservnt 2392 Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 I think the scope is a mash up of fabricated custom parts and not a single found item like the m38 or m19 scopes. IE you won't find it, you have to make it yourself. Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted September 1, 2012 Author Report Posted September 1, 2012 (edited) well I've been told it's a 4x20 but I don't know the brand. no, there are found parts, and I don't want to just make my own? it's not just a matter of faking it in this hobby. perhaps andy or marv can help there's always the wolfcub! and thanks mathias, but I need to know the real deal, so far the real deal consists of : 4x20 scope cut down and using it's plastic mount. some kind of front end applied, with some kind of greeblie stuck on the front. rail of unknown origin. door catch- unknown. hammers from some kind of gun? can anyone help with identifying the original parts used? Edited September 1, 2012 by TK Bondservnt 2392 Quote
Darth Hilarious Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 I think the 4x20 is a Tasco, and that's for the SE-14R pistols, not the RotJ E-11s. But I could be way off... Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 I'm positively certain you wont find a 4x20 scope that looks like the ROTJ scope. Like the "parts of star wars" website says on the scope: Just behind the clip is a rectangular piece that we're not quite sure about yet. The two odd shaped pieces riveted towards the back are believed to be hammers from an old Winchester rifle. On top of the gun a large scope mount was added. The short scope is a custom piece made to simulate the look of the the earlier ESB stormtrooper scopes. We have not yet identified the exact parts, although it is known that the major portion is cutdown from a real scope and the large front end was then riveted to the cutdown part by a single rivet on the top of the "scope." The scope is mounted to the base by a 1&k‚g; Weaver scope ring (exact style unknown). http://www.partsofsw.com/e11rotj.htm It's a mash up. I'm not trying to bash you and say you can't do it, I'm just trying to point you in the right direction. A good ROTJ blaster kit is badly needed and I'd love to see it come to frution as soon as possible. With that said, i don't want you chasing false leads and waste time on that. Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted September 1, 2012 Author Report Posted September 1, 2012 (edited) It was a real scope cut down. the mount is a scope mount. that's why it won't look like any you've seen! look at the post above yours. jimmy understands my point. does any part of this scope look right? Locitus[Admin] Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 A 4x20 scope eye piece is smaller than that what is on the ROTJ blaster. Maybe more like a 4x32 scope. Now read my previous post again. Quote
Darth Hilarious Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 Now I'm really convinced that this is the scope you're thinking of Vern: But I don't think any parts from it are on the RotJ E-11 scope. As Mathias says, the 4x20 is too small. Identifying the front half of the mash-up would be the key, I'd think. Quote
gh05ty Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 this may be of interest vern a thread over at the rpf about the "hammers" and their origins http://www.therpf.com/f9/hammers-rotj-blaster-14571/ Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted September 1, 2012 Author Report Posted September 1, 2012 (edited) the goal is the real thing. not an opinion. as we can see mark and I are barking up the same tree. he and I are both seeking the same answers to the same questions. this person is on the right track ------ http://www.therpf.co...-blaster-14571/ I want to know where he has the front area of the sight rail from, and where his scope came from. as you can see... he is farther along than anyone making a guess. looks right to me? so chris.. tell us the story? and then he posts this -------- and as if that was not enough ------- you're right mathias, the goal is not to waste effort! that's why I'm asking the experts to help lead in the search. the same with most threads of this type it is a team effort. Darth Hilarious Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 They seem to have identified the real thing- the hammers perfectly match that of the MGC replica Browning GP 35. Now you just need two of those... Quote
gh05ty Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 another thread from the rpf this one identifies where the small scope part on top of the rail is from ( the jabbas palace guard blaster donor weapon) Quote

Locitus[Admin] Posted September 2, 2012 Report Posted September 2, 2012 Yeah I remember that. I tried to find it yesterday without luck. It's the rear sight of a target shooting pistol. Quote

TK bondservnt[501st] Posted September 3, 2012 Author Report Posted September 3, 2012 here's another photo showing the inside of the scope! Quote
Lichtbringer Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 Aye, it´s the main part of the rearsight of the pellet gun that was used to build Jabbas Palace Guard Blaster. I have 2 of the guns, one build and one stored, but one of the sights i will use for my planned metal replica of the MGC-Sterling, and the second will remain with the gun in case i decide to sell it as a Guard blaster (kit or build). The scoperail - not sure if they used the original or machined one, but there were such rails available for the sterling at some time. I´ve posted pics/links, not sure if here or somewhere on the RPF. The scope - the closest looking real part i found was the frontbell of the compac super scope they used to make the ANH Greedo Killer scope. For the GK they disassembled the frontbell from the compac to improve it´s look resembling the Hensoldt of the ANH-Hero. In my opinion they later reused it as the endpiece of the ROTJ Solo-Blaster (and casts for the troopers blasters and Solos Stunt-blasters). The bad news - these compacs were hunted by everyone who builds a GK, but i think i can count the found real compac scopes in the community with the fingers of one hand. It´s the rarest/hardest to find scope i noticed in SW. The used frontpiece was machined and added with a pop-rivet - as far as i know noone knows what the small tip on it was. I made one for my ROTJ-Solo - real scopebell, machined frontpart, machined tip: Quote
