Sonnenschein Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 I'm asking this for a friend, who wants to join the 501st as quickly and cheaply as possible. I know there won't be a simple answer. And I know "cheap" doesn't mix with this hobby. But what's out there? Thanks, Karin Quote
bigironvault Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 ID comes to mind. Priced it out for wife. Well done probably about $500. Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 Imperial crewman I'd say. Jumpsuit, cap, boots and some greblies. And you can use that most of the same parts to make other costumes like TIE pilot later on as well. Quote
tkrestonva[TK] Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 I agree with Mathias. Imperial Crew is the easiest, fastest, & cheapest. Problem with being an IC is, no one but hard-core fans know who or what you are. Quote
Daetrin[Admin] Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 A basic IC is the way to go. It's just a jumpsuit (buy, but needs tailoring) with cog patches, cap (buy), belt (buy), and boots (buy). There are only two greeblies that are cheap - one on the buckle and one for the hat. Can be done for $150 or so, with the boots being 1/3rd to 1/2 that cost. OK, maybe $200 for a good IC at most. Yes, you can add code cylinders, compads, belt boxes, and gauntlets, but these are options for base 501st and not required elements. Quote
bigironvault Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 I still like ID better cause they are a little more recognizable! Pfft! But yeah you are right on the IC. Quote
Darth Hilarious Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 Jumpsuits are a great way in, but I'm pretty sure the CHEAPEST costume there is would be a Jawa (provided you have the talent to make it). 1 Quote
Griffin-X[TK] Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 The TR, Royal Guard from ROTJ might be an inexpensive one as well. All depends on the materials and the helmet used. Plus, it looks pretty cool. Quote
RogueTrooper[TK] Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 Crew I agree with Mathias. Imperial Crew is the easiest, fastest, & cheapest. Problem with being an IC is, no one but hard-core fans know who or what you are. Direct hit on all Brian said above. Also, I price it and I can do one for around $200 USD Quote
RogueTrooper[TK] Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 The ice cream man? Willrow Hood is Rebel Legion, and in was fun to see the Willrow Hood flash mob at C6 running around....... Quote
LadyInWhite[TK] Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 My very very basic ID was about $500 including boots. IN with jumpsuit might be close, only the helmet is hard or long wait and a bit of investment. Jawa is extremely easy even with light-up eyes. Mine was under $100. But Jawas look best on short people. Quote
YouCantBe Sidious[TK] Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 Willrow Hood is Rebel Legion, and in was fun to see the Willrow Hood flash mob at C6 running around....... That's awesome! Would have died laughing at that! Quote
Sonnenschein Posted August 30, 2012 Author Report Posted August 30, 2012 Thanks everybody! Looks like IC it is; I even grown on myself. Already registered there. I can't find the time and leisure to build my armor at the moment! Quote

seantrooper[TK] Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 Is have to say jawa, but depends how tall your friend is Quote
tigger68[501st] Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 If you can sew, I did my ISB officer complete for about $200 including sewing. Purchased only the belt, greeblies, buckle, and boots. So there are options out there. If you do decide to make your own, check out the tutorials on the IOC forums. Quote
bobojuice Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 Is have to say jawa, but depends how tall your friend is I guess you haven't seen all the 6 foot jawas being approved lately. Quote
Darth Hilarious Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 I guess you haven't seen all the 6 foot jawas being approved lately. That's almost what I was going to say word for word. Plagarism! Quote
captsafe66[Admin] Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 I bought my IC/TI jumpsuit @ Cosplaysky, it is very nice quality and was done to 501st specs, not too pricey either. Quote
boomshakra[TK] Posted August 31, 2012 Report Posted August 31, 2012 Glad you liked it. Ok, now THAT is funny! Was ice cream served after the flash mob? I'm sure it was quite creamy from all the jostling around Quote
Pickles[TK] Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 The flash mob was great! I didn't even know one of our Canadian Garrison members was in it until I saw him run by! hehehe Quote
bdgr[501st] Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 The cheapest and easiest is the IC: Mechanical Crewman: http://www.501st.com...mechanical_crew You just need 3 items; 1) boots, 2) dark blue jump suit, and 3) Mechanical Crew helmet. No gloves, belt, or comm like other Imperial Crewman costumes. Quote
