Looks amazing Pete. Really well put together. Good luck.

Cheers. It is masterpiece of Mr TM and Billy from UKG who wonderfully put it for me together. Without him i wouldnt b able to make it soo sweet.

Really like that blaster! And are those LEDs in your helmet?

I just used LED flashlight to show the colour of the lenses. ;P

nice set of armor you ve put together!

small suggestions wich you might consider if you like to

.

kinda small list hehe

-do you stand a bit weird since the abplate looks a bit funky?

-The buttplate overlaps the kidneyplate,

-the coverstripes on your forearm looks a bit long to me,

-the shoulderstrips could use a bit more trimming on the sides,

-the calves would look awesum if you could trim them a bit tighter in the anklearea and the thighs look a bit wide aswell in the actionshot,

-the shoulderbells could be adjusted a bit more so they dont tilt backwards and show so much black.

Dont get offendet its just my opinion and suggestions to help you to get your armor even better than it already is.

All the best

I do hv little problem of stand straight. My spine is bended that way i suppose. Thanks for suggestions anyway. Armour was build by wonderful armourer Billhag and i would dare to touch it and destroy his work unless he would say so hehehe. :P

Sven, thank you so much for your 'EXPERT' comments, I don't think I've laughed so much in ages.

I really wished that you had been around years ago so that I wouldn't have made such drastic mistakes on the 39 (yes that's a three tens and a nine!) sets of armour that I've built to date.

Still, I now know better, so rest assured and sleep peacefully, that the 3 sets of TM, 1 set RS and RT that I'll be building for my fellow members of the mighty UKG will be built to your impeccable standards.salute10re.gif

Pete, In my opinion you only need to adjust the way it sits on you to get it to look a wee bit better. :duim:

Boy!, I'd forgotten just how much I'd missed this place :)

Nice suit Peter (and Billy)!

All I can really think of is maybe shorten the strap between shoulder and bell to bring it in a little.

Approved! :duim:

I may be compelled to cede my "Detachment Director of Sardonicisms and Sarcasm" title to Mr. Hag (thanks for the giggle Bill)

You see back in here and directly you get a big laugh out of it!

Welcome back i hope i made your day with that little amusement.

But still i havent talked about mistakes or wrong assembled parts.

Just statet my opinion and i will stick and stand up to every point of it.

I dont care how many gazillion tk sets you ve done.

In my opinion there are those minor things wich could make it even better than it already is.

some people in here seem to have a bigger ego than the deathstar.

There is a difference in suggestion and pointing out mistakes.

Read my post again and you see your post was absolutely unnessesary.

I will point out whatever i find on every armor displayed here in this Detachement and if some people cant handle it not be considered awesum or phantastic they shouldnt ask for opinions.

As always i am sorry if it reads a bit rough or comes across a bit rude.

I dont mean it in any bad way its just how german dudes speak english.

So no hard feelings or another discussion about it please.

;)))

Iam actually a nice guy!

Really lol

Maybe you could mix the constant constructive criticism with a bit of praise for the points you find to be good Sven. Sometimes, especially in this build it can come accross that you are finding fault with things that there is no fault with.

Don't get me wrong, I like how you strive for accuracy but come on. Not every EI submission needs a whole list of things that you feel are not right.

Posted

I'll give you that.

It might really come across like i am just trying to take every build apart and if it would be like that it is really a bad thing.

I always say and said in this thread " to make it even better than it already is" right?

Question: is there overlapping on the butt and kidneyplate?

Yes.

And so on.

I might be just minor adjustment but then its even better than it already is, isnt it?

I am far off saying its wrong assembled.

And i am not mr know it all .

I appologize if i state something wrong.

But our duty is to help all troopers to get the best out of there costumes right?

So why do so many people have problems with it?

In my garrison my build was torn apart to every single bit and rivetsize cause i asked for opinions and i was very pleased they did, cause only that way i could fix f.. Ups and wrong adjustments.

That is the only way to Do it in my opinion.

I could sing a praise about the armor and besides just mention a few things i might want to see a bit adjusted to get closer to accuracy.

Yes i can do that but would that change something?

Would it be easier to swallow for some people?

I dont know.

Germans are known to be picky, i cant help it.

I have to cope with comments about my kind of posts aswell, does anybody care that these posts come across a bit arrogant aswell?

"three tens and a nine"

Woooyeah!

I just did one armor but it went from being approved nearly directly up to centurion.

So what?

Maybe let's stick to telling Peter how sharp he looks in his Billhagian TM ok? If not I've got photoshop fired up... I can bring the facepalms all night long baby.

Its a very nice build indeed Peter no doubt!

I just thought its all about details in eib and centurion not about being nice and political correct and lacking the whole point of it a bit.

Another lesson learned.

Eric, there must be something in air on those wonderful islands mate, ‘coz you and Tony (oh God how I miss that wonderful man :( ) seem to get the gist of my somewhat warped sense of humour.

As for the accolade, could we not share it?, I’ll take Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and you can have the rest. Well, you are on staff so you deserve the extra day (perks of position and all that) plus I’ll need to make time for my various other hobbies such as crossbreeding thoroughbred Chinchilla’s and Chiwawa’s (with surprising results I might add), collecting ceramic thimbles and making pasta collage’s of well known 40’s & 50’s pop and movie stars (they REALLY do look like them) :)

Oh and of course some armour building thrown in for good measure. B)

Sven, If you knew anything at all about me you’d know that ‘Ego’ and just how high you can pee up a wall

is not something that I’m into. My mentioning the amount of armour that I’ve built was a pure illustration to highlight that I think I know what I’m talking about. I’m Chief Armourer on the UKG (NO!, I’m not flexing my ego again) and every day I advice and help people with their costumes. That can be something really simple or something extremely complex and challenging, but no matter what it is I ALWAYS consider their feelings with the content of any comments that I may make.

Support, providing information, encouragement and most importantly stoking up that fire and fuelling that unyielding enthusiasm that we all have for this weird and wonderful hobby that we love.

I’m glad I rattled your cage a wee bit, because you may consider how you say things and put your opinions across in future posts.

As for the ‘German’ thing?, welllllll, I’ll after ask two of my dear friends Dennis and Dan about that. B)

Pete, well done mate you look.....

FRIGGING AWESOME!!!!

:salute:

Pete it looks amazing mate and having seen this and helped a little I know it does not need any changes to the build.

Screen shots and archive photos back up the build and it is in my opinion a 'no brainer' for EIB and Centurion.

like i said the build is really nice!!!no critic on the build at all.

no question that you know what you re doing.

but honestly,what about that?

Butt Plate

For 501st approval:

  • It is allowable to have a single butt/kidney plate for 501st requirements. If a separate butt plate is used, it should be below the bottom of the belt and line up with the kidney plate, with a minimal gap between it and the kidney plate.
  • it has nothing to do with your trimmingwork or assembling its just an easy adjustment so it fits right for the person wearing it.
  • Dennis was the guy who rattled my cage for being correct and that accuracy is about details and we had discussions about the sizes of screws and everything.
  • i think he knows aswell what he is talking about.
  • i am far from your and his level of expert knowledge but i can see if something is not lined up correctly or assembled wrong.
  • that is no rocketscience.#
  • my armor is far from perfect aswell even that it has centurion clearence but i am always happy if someone spots something what i can improve to make it a bit better.

c mon dude stay on topic and serious.

There is not one picture providet in this thread (and thats all we have) where the allignment of the buttplate is correct.

its always overlapping the kidneyplate.

And thats a fact.

So forget about the bitching and egopolish and tell me that i am wrong with this point.

Since all the other points are just MY opinion of how a nice armor should look the buttplate is plane simple not attached in a correct way.

Posted

The butt plate thing is very common. It's a result of using snaps instead och brackets and a maybe slightly too tightly strapped ab-belt. It's nothing to worry about.

Posted

so its a minor tiny fix, just 10 minutes of work and it would be conform to the standarts clearly written down.

If that is no problem, gaps between ab and kidneyplate shouldnt be one aswell , since its common and some troopers are just a bit bigger.

Or the crooked sniperplate, yes its a bad pull so nothing to worry about.

Cmon guys you cant be serious.

where does being accurate starts in your opinion?

The allignment looks wrong and its not standard so why is everybody not seeing it or willing to say yes you should allign it properly.

Posted

Sven, chill out mate!!

The butt isn't sitting right, there!, HAPPY NOW!! :)

Pete hasn't got the suit sitting right on him and he needs to tweak the way it hangs, that's it FULL STOP!!.

I could go through the EIB submissions and show far worst presentations and builds that have been

passed off.

As Mathias said, it's a trait with smallish troopers who have the popper set up instead the original 'Bars & Bolts'

that the butt tends to ride up higher over the base of the kidney plate. No biggy, easy to solve. :)

Sven, you're a SPECIAL type of guy and I can see you going a long way in this hobby. :)

Long days and pleasent nights my friend cowboy.gif
