captsafe66[Admin] Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 (edited) First of all, Great attention to detail! I do believe the blue on the buttons are too dark, needs to be the lighter blue. They may want the ammo pack on the thigh to be lowered a bit in the front. Other then that, looks like a superior build!! You do have to be an EI before you can submit this thread though. Good Luck Trooper! Edited August 18, 2012 by captsafe66 Quote
Solcar23[TK] Posted August 18, 2012 Author Report Posted August 18, 2012 Oh boy! I didn't know that! If I have to I can easily resubmit. Changing the button color would be a snap and lowering the thigh ammo belt down a bit isn't a problem either. Thanks! Quote
27555[501st] Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 I applaud your ethic! While I'm unable to give you any comments, I think it's superior that you submitted both EI and Centurion, the same day you got you TKID. Too my untrained eyes, you look most excellent! Good luck in your approvals trooper! Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 Overall this is an excellent ATA build. So congratulations to that! I do have a few suggestions on improvements. As noted earlier, your blue ab buttons are a tad too dark. French blue would be more correct. Your holster is attached too high up on the belt, the rivets should be closer to the bottom. And you might want to upgrade those brads to split rivets. I can't stop your approval on any of those mentioned "flaws". But I can give you some time to fix them if you want. Let me know if you want a happy deployment officer or a badge. Quote
Solcar23[TK] Posted August 18, 2012 Author Report Posted August 18, 2012 Lol! Well a happy deployment officer is the ideal! How about I'll change the color today for the badge and on my honor will update the brads as soon as I can get some screen accurate 8mm split rivets (or cap rivets, I can think of a few sources now) and I'll need to get a fresh canvas belt to lower those holster rivets which will take a bit of time to order, unless you can think of a solution with the existing belt. Would that be acceptable? Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 I hope to follow in your footsteps, if your going to build why not aim for the highest you can Quote

Would that be acceptable? That is acceptable. I don't think you need to replace the belt though. 2 small holes where the old rivets are isn't something to worry about. Once the fabric frays a little that fraying will probably cover up the holes, yet it won't compromise the integrity of the belt. Cap rivets go on the knee and split rivets on the side and crotch. Looking forward to seeing your upgrades. Post them up here once you've done them. With that said, you're not approved. Quote
Solcar23[TK] Posted August 18, 2012 Author Report Posted August 18, 2012 Hey Now! I'm actually painting the buttons as I type! I'll have those pics posted shortly! And I'll be ordering the nickel split rivets from Trooperbay shortly after I decide if I want to replace the belt anyway. I'm a bit anal like that! I know it just adds to the authenticity to have the frays but I may not be able to live with two extra hole in the belt. I'll try it and if it bugs me I'm upgrading. Thanks Mathias! Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 See if you can't get brass split rivets instead. It's more authentic. I posted an ebay link in ladyinwhite's centurion thread for a pack of 100 brass split rivets. You might even save a dollar on that. Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 Any excess rivets you can do like me and give away in your garrison, or just sell here if you like. It's a free market after all. Quote
Solcar23[TK] Posted August 18, 2012 Author Report Posted August 18, 2012 Those are too small Mathias. They're only 6mm. I'm going to try to find something between 8-10mm+ before I resort to those. In the nickel vs. brass issue, I understand that both you and I would know that they are brass (and God knows I'm OCD enough to let it bug me), but if I'm going to paint them white you'll never see the color of the rivet anyway. I don't know, you got me thinking too much about this now! What to do....what to do......... Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 Nope, 6 mm is the length of the legs. The head size is 8 mm diameter. It's the most accurate rivets found I've seen. TM also uses identical ones on his builds. Although you might want to get rivets with longer legs as those are easier to split than the shorter legs. Quote
Solcar23[TK] Posted August 18, 2012 Author Report Posted August 18, 2012 How about these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/100-BRASS-PLATED-8mm-SPLIT-BIFRUCATED-RIVETS-/130509290286 Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 Head size is too small (5 mm). Quote
Solcar23[TK] Posted August 18, 2012 Author Report Posted August 18, 2012 Alright! I'll pop on the ones you recommended. Step one to a happy deployment officer, the updated buttons: I'll clean up the edges shortly. Now onto lowering the holster and ordering the rivets! Thanks Mathias! Quote
Solcar23[TK] Posted August 18, 2012 Author Report Posted August 18, 2012 (edited) What do you think of these? http://cgi.ebay.com/...n#ht_500wt_1102 They're in the US or these? http://www.ebay.com/itm/BRASS-PLATED-STEEL-SPLIT-RIVETS-Package-of-50-/360347441053?pt=US_Trunks_and_Chests&var=&hash=item53e661979d#ht_2021wt_1087 Edited August 18, 2012 by Solcar23 Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 3/8" is too big head size, and don't bother with steel, it's both not the right material, and will be very hard to split. Quote
Solcar23[TK] Posted August 18, 2012 Author Report Posted August 18, 2012 The ones from Ingrid's thread. I'm waiting for a shipping quote. Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 Great! Shipping shouldn't be much. for such a small package. Quote
Boltstrooper[TK] Posted August 18, 2012 Report Posted August 18, 2012 Congrats Carlos. Great job on some fast work on the adjustments. Quote
