Building this helmet for a friend out of State. Thought I would share the progress for both of you to enjoy. :)

This is the ABS version, the 1st ATA that Ive worked with in this material. Overall a great looking kit, and you really can't beat the price. Nice work T!

Kit showed up today at work.

Brilliant idea holding it together with magnets. Sometimes I remember I'm such a newb at all this! :P

Looks good so far. Not sure what those images of "plastic weird stuff" were showing - any explanation there?

By the looks of it, the two sets of ears are for whatever type of helmet you're building, stunt (four bumps) and hero (three bumps).

I should hopefully receive my ATA helmet soon to replace the abomination I'm using. (FX, its horrible)

No hero ears here.

Both of these sets are Stunt ears... With the stunt helmets, the left ear always had a smaller set of bumps, compared to the right.

Nope. ATA simply supplies 2 sets of stunt ears in case you mess up the first pair, you have a spare set.

Nice to have. Not that I have ever screw up or anything. ;)

Hey,

I have the faceplate and cap glued together for resin coating. Started trimming the ears as well ... I'll wait to attach those when the inside is finished. But I just wanted to show some progress, and let you know that I'm working on it.

Kool!

I worked more on it last night. As a base, I coated the inside with a rigid foam. I'll sand this down some, and give it a layer of light weight resin. Then eventual give it a coat of paint for a more finished look.

After all the trouble I'm having with my ATA ears, I'm loving how yours look. Nice job!

What do you charge? I've got an ATA ABS helmet sitting on my workbench that doesn't want to put itself together. I thought they self-assembled. :smiley-sw013:

Very nice Jesse, is the ATA helmet easier to put together than an RS props kit.

Maybe ... only because the plastic is much thicker.

Depends on what you want done to it ... But this projects cost $150 + S&H. That includes the cost for supplies (Rigid foam, resin coat, paints, padding, straps). He supplied the kit any additional upgrades would have to be purchased and supplied to me.

Looking good, thanks for posting, just about to start putting mine together and was worried at first, now it all seems clear :D
