Can anyone enlighten me as to the definition of

Correct 'Hovi mic' aerator tips.

?

Mine came with the AP kit but I thought I read somewhere when i started that those are not EIB acceptable?

If not, I'll need to replace those before I submit for EIB :)

Correct. The ones included with AP are not EIB acceptable.

Do they look like ------ instead? If so... You'll need to replace them for Eee-aye..... Oh.

AP now supplies different tips when ordering the upgrade.

those are the "standard" ones he sends out.

you can get better tips now if you ask.

That would only apply to new orders, right Vern? If you need to order them separately for previous orders don't see how that differs from any other maker of Hovi's.

I have to ask - why is he selling kits with inaccurate kits at all. All people will do is just toss them. It seems a small thing to do.

I heard that AP has an upgrade kit. I wonder what is included if you ask?

Hmm..... I wonder too. I just picked up a B grade and didnt know I was needing to order additional Mic Tips :( Is there anything else would need to get beside the Mic Tips as this was the only thing I could afford and wanted to ditch my FX :)

Along the same lines, are the ones available in the ATA kit EIB & Centurion approved?

I was looking at the ones found on www.trooperbay.com, but figured if the ATA ones I got with my helmet would pass - I would just paint those and save the $35.

If anyone could chime in on that, I would appreciate it.

The ones included in the ATA kit are acceptable for both EIB and centurion (there is no extra requirement on this part for centurion).

A new pair of mic tips usually costs between £5-£20 depending on vendor.

I am so killing myself for a camera right now - cuz do I have the upgrade ones or not!? :P I'll repost with a pic. Thanks for all the info. I might be able to mod these to look correct in any case.

Unfortunately, the standard AP mic tips are considered impossible to mod to EIB acceptance. There's a thread about that I might be able to find later.

Well then, I guess I'll be buyin! :) Unless they're available at hardware stores... :)

That's the standard AP hovi tip. So it would not be acceptable for EIB. Both Keith and Sskunky make very nice hovis for those who are looking. Trooperbay is reselling Sskunky hovi tips, in case anyone was wondering what those were.

I have to ask where AP is getting his mic tips? to suddenly be able to upgrade them he had to have got hold of an original or Keith is supplying him or are they cast from someone elses? There aren't that many sources for legitimate castings..... I was asked to supply him but it never went any further.

Anyone got a picture of the "upgraded" AP-hovis?

I have some im clearing out from when i used to sell them, you can get EIB with them, im sellin em for $5 a set. though they arent as accurate or nice as Keiths, they still work well. They are in the for sale section :)
