You really think its that simple??

Almost sounds too easy, but if that indeed is the case, I will hate myself for not doing so right away!

But it still leaves me the large gap between the Cod and the thighs, but perhaps some suspenders could help me there, as the thighs pulls the belt down over some time trooping.

Yes, I think it will be that easy! :)

I would also look into using some reliable garters for the thighs, even though it might not be screen accurate. Didn't you get garters from Mightytank? I have had mine for over a year without problems.

No I didnt. I have tried contacting him, but he havent replied, but I'm looking into making some myself. The biggest problem though, is finding the right pieces.

Also I have been using the webbing straps and a belt for this troop. The only problem I had with them, was that they moved around a bit, and pulled really hard on the belt.

Its the two outermost straps, with the plastic buckles.

I see. Well, he might be busy I guess.

Your garters look sturdy enough. Is the waist band slipping and becoming looser as you troop?

Posted

Not really. Its a riggers belt, and VERY sturdy. They can be used for rapelling! But the thighs still manage to pull it down a bit when I'm walking around in it, unless I make it extremely tight.

I had tightened it a lot the last hour of the last troop. It made my waist real sore, but it reduced the gap and made it easier to walk. So I think some suspenders would do wonders. Or maybe some garters like the ones Mightytank makes, could help even out the pull on the belt, so its not pulling in the same place.

I guess I will have to experiment with this when I get home.

Yeah, just don't go and do something drastic like re-shaping armour! :)

Naaah, what makes you think I'd do that :dancing-trooper:

BTW heres a good pic from the start of the Malmö troop, where the armour sits really great

The easiest way to fix your thigh problem is to ditch the webbing and replace it with elastic. You really should not use webbing anywhere on a trooper kit because it is too restrictive. Having elastic straps holding your thighs up will allow them to move freely and they will always be pulling up if you have the straps slightly shorter than you want. Trust me, elastic is the way to go here :)

Your torso issue is an easy fix too. Simply pull the back and chest plates together and have the tabs on top of each piece touch each other. This will bring your back plate and chest plate higher on your body and should solve the problem. If it doesn't, then simply trim a bit of ABS away on the tabs to make them shorter and close the gap again. This will raise the armour even more. If your chest starts to choke you, simply extend the curve of the neck line by trimming it away.

If your abdomen plate is digging into your groin, simply adjust your strapping to raise it higher. It looks like you are really tighening your belt and this could be the problem. The main belt should be fastened snug and not too tight. Do not worry if there is a slight gap between the abdomen and kidney plates, this is quite normal.

Whatever you do, do not start trimming away and heating anything until you have tried these suggestions. I think you will find these suggestions will cure your problems. But remember, these suits are somewhat restrictive by their very nature, so don't expect to do cartwheels and somersaults anytime soon :P

Why, oh WHY do people keep calling me Morton

I think you are the 3rd one here on FISD to call me Morton

But thanks anyway hehe

Hehe its okay Eldrik ;)

And Paul that is some great advice. Thank you.

Although I seem to find that elastic on my thigs dont really work that great, but I will give it another go.

It usually takes some trooping to find out what works for you. Just keep tweaking. :)

Wow. Is that a pipe kit, a resin kit, and two Hasbro kits? You're going to be one well armed TK. Looks like you'll be keeping busy.

Posted

Yes it is :D

I want all the options open to me ;)

Gonna build one Hasbro, as is, and then one with some mods. Especially I want the Hasbro Boba blaster sounds!

Posted

But the full blaster kit have priority as I want my centurion ;)

Would be even cooler if you could fit the boba sound into the pipe kit. You're already working with it and have great modding possibilies when it's in kit-form. :)

Good luck!

Also thought about that one, annd luckily i have two Boba blasters, thanks to Marv. I'm also going to put a real M38/M40 scope on either the full kit, pipe build, or both :D (again thanks to Marv)

I'm trying to fix the back plate, but its still bugging me.

I tried two adjustments to get the chest and back plate closer to each other and therefore higher, but it doesnt seem to work too well.

The first attempt.

Second attempt.

What am I doing wrong??

Agreed, the second looks fine. I would replace the white strapping that is connecting the back plate to the kidney plate with black instead of white, so it isn't seen.

White is screen accurate, but it should be elastic. If you have your armour put together well then the straps aren't visible anyway.

The white between the back and kidney is the print on my t-shirt ;)

But thanks. I'll try and take a complete pic tomorrow, and if you guys like it, I will make my Centurion aplication :D

Ah, must have mis-read. I was talking about the shoulder straps. :)
