Arnie_DK[TK] Posted February 19, 2012 Author Report Posted February 19, 2012 Split Rivets attached now. Thanks to Mathias TK-2959 for donating theese, but damn I hate those little things! Also, is this right? I'm fairly sure, but better safe than sorry Quote
gazmosis[501st] Posted February 19, 2012 Report Posted February 19, 2012 (edited) You need to put some pants on your mannequin.....that's obscene!!! Edited February 19, 2012 by gazmosis Quote
troopermaster Posted February 19, 2012 Report Posted February 19, 2012 Also, is this right? I'm fairly sure, but better safe than sorry Yes, that's the right way Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted February 19, 2012 Report Posted February 19, 2012 Glad the rivets worked out for you. Quote
Arnie_DK[TK] Posted February 19, 2012 Author Report Posted February 19, 2012 Progress on trimming so far. Need to go get some more clamps and magnets... Thought I had enough, but didnt account for how many I have to stack on top of each other. So far only one back strip on the thighs, but they are ready to get the rest glued in. The sniper plate seems a bit odd, and have seen other TM builds where this was right, but have also seen builds where it were like mine. Should I trim the left side to match the right, or is this one of the intentional "mistakes" ?? Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted February 19, 2012 Report Posted February 19, 2012 (edited) Leave the sniper plate as it is. That's what I did and I've never had anyone question that. Edited February 19, 2012 by Locitus Quote
Arnie_DK[TK] Posted February 20, 2012 Author Report Posted February 20, 2012 Busy busy busy... Right leg in need of strips, otherwise trimmed and fitted. Might do something about the pointy ends, when the inner strip hve been fitted. Measuring twice, cutting once...then measureing and cutting again. Quote
Arnie_DK[TK] Posted February 20, 2012 Author Report Posted February 20, 2012 To cut, or not to cut...thats really the question. Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 Tape it up with the other half and see if you can move without pinching. I'm thinking you'll need to cut it. Quote
Arnie_DK[TK] Posted February 20, 2012 Author Report Posted February 20, 2012 Did that right before I took this picture, and it didnt really pinch me, but still felt like I could use the space... I'll tape it back up and take a picture. Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) This is the kind of area on the suit where a bit of extra space doesn't show a lot, so even if you would end up cutting more than exactly as much as you need, it won't matter much. Edited February 20, 2012 by Locitus Quote
Arnie_DK[TK] Posted February 20, 2012 Author Report Posted February 20, 2012 Yeah think you are right. And after looking at the pictures, it really do look like I need to make the cut. Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 Absolutely. That's going to cut into your arm while trooping if you don't. Quote
Arnie_DK[TK] Posted February 20, 2012 Author Report Posted February 20, 2012 And cut it is. Sits perfectly now While im at the forearms, is there a special way with the return edge here? I have seen some have left it like this, and others have removed it. I was thinking of trimmind the ends, so it "melts" with the other piece... Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 In the front of the forearm you want no return at all. In the back I like having some, and there are some screen caps of that too. Not all seem to have had return at the back of these pieces, so it's up to you. Quote
Arnie_DK[TK] Posted February 20, 2012 Author Report Posted February 20, 2012 Thanks Already removed the return at the front, but think im keeping whats in the back and making it fit with the other piece. Quote
Arnie_DK[TK] Posted February 20, 2012 Author Report Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) Whew! What a busy night, but I think I'm done with the cutting and trimming for now. Need to pick up some extra supplies today, so I can get the gluing up to speed. Only thing I havent touched yet, Is the ammo belt and drop boxes. I'll do theese when I get my canvas belt and Holster from TM. But let me know what you think, and please do tell if I have missed something. Edited February 20, 2012 by Arnie_DK Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 I think you can take off another millimeter off the end caps on TD and another millimeter on the return on the bottom of the shoulder bell on the right in the picture. This is nit-picking, but since I know of your ambitions with this kit, it's better to do it now and to be picky. I'm very impressed by the amount of work you got done tonight! I was at my work and followed your posts with great pleasure. Quote
Arnie_DK[TK] Posted February 20, 2012 Author Report Posted February 20, 2012 ahh yes, I will get right to it. Thanks. Your help have been greatly appreciated And yeah, as you know I want Centurion But the first step, is to get it done by the Troop next weekend, so I have to work fast. Luckily I work better under pressure, than when I have plenty of time Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 Excellent! Make sure to have lots of clamps and magnets then. Waiting for E-6000 to cure completely before being able to move on to the next part is the worst! Quote
Arnie_DK[TK] Posted February 20, 2012 Author Report Posted February 20, 2012 So I found out!! 36 magnets and 16 assorted clamps, is FAR from enough... Just waiting for the stores to open now. Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 Have some coffee while you wait. You must be tired after working throughout the night! Quote
Arnie_DK[TK] Posted February 20, 2012 Author Report Posted February 20, 2012 Hehe... already drank a whole pitcher Quote
Arnie_DK[TK] Posted February 20, 2012 Author Report Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) Reinforcements have arrived!! 20 snaps, rivets and rivet gun, straps and elastic,20 assorted clamps and 34 magnets. Also 2 whoppers, 2 cheeseburgers and 8 hot wings. Time to glue some stuff together...after "lunch"... Oh and the magnets are "BLEEEEP" expensive when bought in a hobby shop!!! That lot cost me roughly 400dkr (=70$)!! Edited February 20, 2012 by Arnie_DK Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) Yeah, those hobby shops are really robbing you on the magnets. Same thing here in Sweden when they cost like $10 on ebay. They are often not as strong as you want them to be either. Edited February 20, 2012 by Locitus Quote
