Glitch[TK] Posted January 25, 2012 Author Report Posted January 25, 2012 hoping to be the first aussie centurion! on australia day too! close up of my helmet decals are in my EIB thread, and on my flickr page... but i could post them here if it's necessary Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted January 25, 2012 Report Posted January 25, 2012 (edited) I believe we need more pics of your helmet, to show off any decals and or hand painted details. You are looking good however. Better than most! But there's always room for improvement. You blaster is looking a bit funky as well, but is nice for a scratch build, and better than a hasbro! While I'm already nit-picking your drop boxes could come up a little, and attach with elastic instead of webbing. Not that those are required, but in the spirit of centurion. Faie[TK] Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 (edited) Biceps and forearm ROTJ style? Good luck. Edited January 26, 2012 by Faie Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Biceps and forearm ROTJ style? Good luck. There's nothing forbidding overlap style assembly in the centurion crl. But yeah, cover strip is nicer. Quote
Glitch[TK] Posted January 26, 2012 Author Report Posted January 26, 2012 Here are some pictures of my helmet from my EIB thread, these are clearer photos so you can see the decals better, obviously it's vocoder is not fixed and slot screws aren't in but i've fixed them as you can see earlier. Quote
Daetrin[Admin] Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Mason should reply soon - the anticipation is getting nuts! :-p Quote
dashrazor Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 sorry for the delay wow! what a difference it makes having the shins fitted properly... and i am really happy you took this costume to the centurion level Approved! great work trooper!!! as for the comments above,, you could opt to raise the drop boxes a bit but they appear to be within acceptable levels, and the biceps/forearms are overlapped assembled (like rotj) currently overlapping is acceptable but adding cover strips would really add to the build IMO Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 (edited) One more small detail if you want to some day would be to replace the brow trim. It looks like it's sort of rounded at the bottom rather than the sharp angle it should be. I'll try to simulate this in ascii art. Proper trim |\ | \ |__\ Your trim | ' | | ' | |___| Ignore the ' in the illustration. It's just to compensate for the forums way of handling multiple spaces. Note that this is just nit-picking and you're free to do as you wish. Now congratulations on making centurion! Edited January 27, 2012 by Locitus Quote
Glitch[TK] Posted January 27, 2012 Author Report Posted January 27, 2012 YAY thankyou so much guys, I feel proud that i went to that extra effort and that i got Australia on the centurion ranks! i appreciate the advice on making it look more accurate, if you dare venture onto my flickr sets there's a couple of photos of how i made my drop boxes and i made them adjustable with velcro, so it's easy for me to bring them up a bit. I'm not too sure about fixing up the forearms and biceps it might be something i do later with a bit of spare time or if it really bothers me, same with the elastic instead of webbing, i mean you don't even see that much of it so i don't think its a big deal, but that's my personal opinion.. just one thing is what do you mean by the brow trim being angled? would you have a link to an angled brow trim i could use to replace it/ see what it looks like in comparison? Locitus[Admin] Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 (edited) Yeah, have a look at that used on TM's recently sold replica helmet. Or as you can see on this original sandtrooper helmet This one should be close enough if you can't find it locally: http://trooperbay.co...lmet-brow-trim/ Using elastic for your drop boxes is easy. Don't give up just because you got the badge. Edited January 27, 2012 by Locitus Quote
Glitch[TK] Posted January 27, 2012 Author Report Posted January 27, 2012 ok cool i see what you mean, i will replace that because i think it will make my helmet look better and if i do make changes like the biceps and forearms and elastic, i'll make sure i post them in here appreciate it guys!
