Thermal Detonator paint color

Hey all,

 

I'm about to begin building my thermal detonator, i was wondering what color paint to use, i know it should be grey, but not sure of what type of grey and what brand to use. any advice would be most helpful. Thanks

ahhh...sweet, so it should be the same color as the Ab buttons right? and would i find these in home depot? or a special paint shop? I'm using paint for this cause my kit already came with a black pvc. i don't want it go to waste, so ill just use that. Thanks for the tip guys. This helps a lot.

I'm building a ANH TK, its an AP kit. I think i might just go with paint cuz i think paint will have more of that shinny effect than just using grey pvc, but i guess ill wait for more of you guys to chime in. But this is great, at least i have options now, and i guess i can have some sort of trial and error basis on my part, which will help me better into a future build.

So it seems that they used grey pvc in the film, so i guess ill be using that. Thank you so much guys for clearing that out. You guys are awsome. Thanks again.

Just FYI... The pipe that comes with the AP kit is a 2" dia pipe. The screen used pipes were just over 2 1/2" in dia. You won't find anything closer than a 2" or 3" pipe at most hardware stores. Which is how I got into making my own detonator kits. I order my pipe from TAP Plastics... it's spot on as far as the diameter goes. However, it's a clear extruded acrylic tube which obviously requires paint. My RS Props kit came with an extruded (grey) ABS pipe... I have yet to find anything like it in the States though.

If anyone needs the correct 68mm grey PVC pipe just send me a PM. This is not the readily available light grey pipe you can get from B&Q, it's dark grey and a perfect match to the screen used original pipes

I can recommend Paul (Troopermasters) Thermal Detinators if you want to save some time... well worth it, clips and all.. awsome bit of kit!
