TK_LEPER Posted January 3, 2012 Author Report Posted January 3, 2012 No, cap rivets. From the outside they look very much the same. Ah crap... Already installed split rivets there. Quote

TK_LEPER Posted January 8, 2012 Author Report Posted January 8, 2012 (edited) Doods! Made some more progress on the suit today... Hand sticked snaps on the bells ... Pain in the butt ... Finished glueing all the bell straps as well... Hand stitched belt loops and glued straps to thighs Hand stitched all my shin straps ... Then glued my shin straps in place ... Installed all my brackets, snaps, and straps on the torso ... these brackets are also a pain ... but look pretty darn genuine ... I think I added one too many snaps to the crotch strap ... But it holds it pretty good... Edited January 8, 2012 by TK 4702 Quote
TK-4935 Posted January 8, 2012 Report Posted January 8, 2012 That's all the fiddly bits sorted then. Great job. I see you're shins at the back are still quite open. Are you planning on heating them up to close them a touch? I find the elastic/hook ensemble doesn't really have the pulling power to close the gap so I decided to use heat to close the gap as much as possible so the elastic and hook just holds them closed. TK_LEPER Posted January 9, 2012 Author Report Posted January 9, 2012 I realized today that my shoulder straps were not the proper 2" wide elastic... Also, since I had already glued them in ... I was finding it nearly impossible to stitch the female side of the shoulder snaps. :B So I ran to the store (for some 2" elastic) today, and hand stitched the snaps before gluing those in again. I also added the front right shoulder snap to make it easier to get in and out of the torso. Quote
TK-4935 Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 did you hook them together and then heat them, or just bent them into shape by hand? I did it by hand in small increments. Quote
TK_LEPER Posted January 9, 2012 Author Report Posted January 9, 2012 (edited) Torso is completely finished... as is the rest ... all except for my belt. Still waiting on that from RS Prop gang. Edited January 9, 2012 by TK 4702 Quote

TK_LEPER Posted January 15, 2012 Author Report Posted January 15, 2012 I can't get a response from the RS prop guys on my belt. Until I receive my belt the suit remains unfinished. I sure I will get it someday, but ... a response would be nice. Quote
Stormy320 Posted January 16, 2012 Report Posted January 16, 2012 ...and now you will give that to me :vader1: Quote

As they've outsourced it it does take a bit of time and yes, a response wouldn't go amiss but communication aside, the RS boys really have been an absolute pleasure to do business with. I think they need to employ a secretary though or someone to man the enquiries/helpdesk Quote
