Thermal det length?

So I got the 2" diameter PVC to do my thermal detonator, but what is the exact length that it is suppose to be? So that there is the right amount of grey showing between the end caps and the control panel. I have looked at several build threads but just can't find the length. Thanks!

7 inches for the AP pipe, some have 7.5

Cool, thanks! Eyeballing it I thought 12" but putting up to my back, that was quickly not right.

So I cut to that length. If I slide the end caps on the control panel touches each end. Am I missing something?

Cut your end caps to 3/4" long and your det plate to 4 1/2" and you have the correct length parts
