Prophet_UKG Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 Hi again all. Pictures say a thousand words so here is where we are up to I've made a few adjustments since the last fitting. I've tightened up the shoulder straps holding the lower torso sections up so now the back doesn't look as 'floppy'. My main efforts at the moment are the legs. I've got the greaves shimmed and drying as we speak. The thighs have had to have a larger shim inserted. These are kind of 'half-way there' I'm also sorting the trim today I still need to source - - Gloves - Boots - Blaster kit With the ROtJ builds i understand a blaster/holster isn't actually necessary. However what of trooper would i be if i wasn't tooled up I'll update as and when Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 Why did you split the kidney and the butt plate? Quote
Prophet_UKG Posted October 20, 2011 Author Report Posted October 20, 2011 To add a little extra flexibility. I'm not overly concerned with obtaining any magical forum status Quote
Trooper1972 Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 Looks good James - Not to sure about the Camo Shorts though mate - leave them for the scout Quote
Prophet_UKG Posted October 20, 2011 Author Report Posted October 20, 2011 That's my armour building uniform Quote
geordietrooper Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 good to see you here james , you will get more feedback on your build here Quote
firebladejedi[TK] Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 its a shame you have cut the cod and ab plate but its not the end of the world.. i would strap this suit up so that the body parts are connected together and ditch the braces it will improve the look a lot. Also if you can i would move the elastic straps on the biceps 1 - 1.5 inches higher. Quote
Prophet_UKG Posted October 20, 2011 Author Report Posted October 20, 2011 Thanks for the feedback. I may well have a look at removing the braces. I've also go to trim an inch or so from the tops of the biceps as the cut-out shape is biting into my flesh at the top of the bicep. thanks Quote
Prophet_UKG Posted October 20, 2011 Author Report Posted October 20, 2011 Progress today . . . Firstly Rob was kind enough to help me flare the shoulder bells ever-so-slightly so they don't slide off. I also shortened the straps that attach them to the bridges to pull them in a tad. Then i've shortened the braces slightly so the bottom half fits more flush with the top. The main job today has been finishing the thighs and greaves. They are both drying at the mo so no pics im afraid . . . Oh and i also added the trim to the torso sections. Looking ok so far ? (got to add another strap at the top of the kidney plate to join it to the front. You can see it flares a little at the mo) Quote
Prophet_UKG Posted October 26, 2011 Author Report Posted October 26, 2011 (edited) Getting there . . . Edited October 26, 2011 by Prophet_UKG Quote
Prophet_UKG Posted November 1, 2011 Author Report Posted November 1, 2011 Well, we're all finished (i hope) I picked up some chelsea boots locally and used the terrago dye on them, came out nice. The gloves are nomex flight gloves. I wasn't happy with the thighs/greaves so reshimmed them AGAIN ! These CFO suits are not designed for chaps with big legs i tell you . . . The blaster i picked up from a friend who oddly enough had a ROTJ version he wanted to swap for a ANH version. Ker-ching ! Might still need some tweaking ? Pics Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 I'd try to raise the shoulder bells a little. It would probably look better with less black showing at the top of the shoulders rather than no black between bell and bicep. Quote
Prophet_UKG Posted November 1, 2011 Author Report Posted November 1, 2011 Thanks for the feedback Quote
TKCaleb Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 I concur with Mathias, other than that, it looks great! Quote
Prophet_UKG Posted January 28, 2012 Author Report Posted January 28, 2012 Finally at a point where i can declare this project officially finished. Spent the last month or two doing a few tweaks on my days off - - Tightening belt and adding studs so it sits at the right height - Shimming thighs and greaves so they are 'the perfect fit' - Replaced chelsea boots with TK-boots - Shortened straps on thighs so they sit higher - Tidied up corners of edging trim - Shortened and filled drop-boxes - Made custom battery packs for lid fans and ROMFX in chest - Resprayed E11 Quote
TKCaleb Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 Looks wonderful man! Great work! Quote
Prophet_UKG Posted January 29, 2012 Author Report Posted January 29, 2012 Cheers chap. Pic's aren't very good as the missus was at work. I had to hit the button with my nose on my camera (touch-screen phone) then had ten seconds to grab my lid and blaster and run outside I wouldn't recommend CFO kits for any chaps that are any bigger than me (6'1", 44" chest, 36" waist) as i'm right on the borderline for chest/back sizing. You can see the size of the shims i had to put in the thighs ! Quote
