DudeSidious Posted August 17, 2011 Author Report Posted August 17, 2011 Test fit. Now to cut and fit the ears. Quote
Jorran Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 Nice start! I used score and snap on just about all of my armor, but I did find the dremel useful, particularly when putting the finishing touches on the ears. The only thing that stands out to me is that it looks like you could trim a little more around the eye openings. It looks like there's a return edge/lip left in there, and I don't think you need that. I'm new to the game, though (heck, I haven't even finished my helmet yet!), so please wait for an expert to chime in! Quote
DudeSidious Posted August 17, 2011 Author Report Posted August 17, 2011 Im not to sure about the eyes ,Im going to research the abit more before I trim any more. Question time. The hole marks on the two halfs of the helmet.Do you drill these or mark your own? Because when i have the premarked holes lined up the brow is very low.Or do I cut the brow to fit? Quote
SGT Tasty Wheat Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 I cant help you with your qestions (ive havent made my helmet yet) but i agree, the brow seems way to low. Quote

That way when you assemble it won't look different. Quote
DudeSidious Posted August 18, 2011 Author Report Posted August 18, 2011 (edited) ok I drilled the marked holes with the brow in place and it does fit better. but now ive noticed the ear maybe to close to the tear and the bottom law line maybe to short. what do think? 1mpulseS0D Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 My AP helmet looked that way too, Nothing to worry about. I think that's the way AP makes their helmets. Quote

1mpulseS0D Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 (edited) I haven't trimmed the neck line, but i might do it. I didn't have any trouble taking it on before i installed the rubber neck trim but now it's quite snug, but i can take it on and off. Depending on how much you want to remove, consider sanding as much as you can, it will be harder to make mistakes but takes some time. Also, how do you take your helmet on? DudeSidious Posted August 18, 2011 Author Report Posted August 18, 2011 I think i will repoistion the face plate.wich sux, cause it took me a log time to do that ear. Quote
1mpulseS0D Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 I put it on side ways then turn it. Then it's not because of that. I guess you'll have to trim the neck if you can't get inside it. Quote
DudeSidious Posted August 19, 2011 Author Report Posted August 19, 2011 Today it took me all freaking day to finnish both ears and do a slight adjustment to the cap and the face plate.Over all I'm happy with the results. As you can see I gained a bit more space between the ducts and the ears and gained at lower jaw line to.But doing this has lowerd the brow. The good news is now I can get my head in without ripping my ears off. 1mpulseS0D Posted August 19, 2011 Report Posted August 19, 2011 Looks great! Did you gave to trim any of the neck line or did it just require some arranging with the ears? Quote
DudeSidious Posted August 22, 2011 Author Report Posted August 22, 2011 Looks great! Did you gave to trim any of the neck line or did it just require some arranging with the ears? yeah still had to trim about 10mm. mainly because of my big head I think. Quote
DudeSidious Posted August 22, 2011 Author Report Posted August 22, 2011 I've trimed the eyes some more and gave the frown its 1st coat. Quote
DudeSidious Posted August 23, 2011 Author Report Posted August 23, 2011 I've put on all of the decals and just have to paint the ears and chin. I've reduced the flare in the right eye by just adding pressure with my fingers. Quote

DudeSidious Posted August 28, 2011 Author Report Posted August 28, 2011 Im just about done with the helmet just goto paint the screws.Im happy with the way its turned out. I found the ears easy enough to paint.Later on I think Ill take off the decals and paint those bits too. Quote
DudeSidious Posted September 3, 2011 Author Report Posted September 3, 2011 Ive cut out and sanded the torso and have made the snap plates. I'vd used rivits with a washer for extra strength insted of the back of the snap. I need to buy more clamps as can only glue one at a time this way. Quote
