dashrazor Posted August 4, 2011 Report Posted August 4, 2011 here http://greatlakesskipper.com/product/791_793-boat-rub-rail-rub-rail-and-gunnel-molding/11770--bayliner-1733532-white-316-inch-boat-u-molding-ft.html this stuff is great and super cheap Quote
JoeR Posted August 4, 2011 Report Posted August 4, 2011 I think the Fenixprops stuff on eBay is slightly more accurate but that does look cheap. I think Pete aka Stukatrooper looked into it. Joe Quote
that954trooper[TK] Posted August 4, 2011 Author Report Posted August 4, 2011 awesome thanks for the quick response dash... im hoping to join you in the ranks of icn soon, maybe even eib... Quote
troopermaster Posted August 4, 2011 Report Posted August 4, 2011 here http://greatlakesski...molding-ft.html this stuff is great and super cheap 3/16 is way to short for accurate trim. Try looking for 3/8 or as close to 10mm as possible. I found a UK supplier for gloss but it was slightly undersize at 8mm. Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted August 4, 2011 Report Posted August 4, 2011 how does the fenix props trim stand up to your standards there TM/ (paul)?? sskunky pointed me to that... Quote
that954trooper[TK] Posted August 4, 2011 Author Report Posted August 4, 2011 how many feet would you suggest to do the whole armor? 20 or so Quote
dashrazor Posted August 5, 2011 Report Posted August 5, 2011 3/16 is way to short for accurate trim. Try looking for 3/8 or as close to 10mm as possible. I found a UK supplier for gloss but it was slightly undersize at 8mm. Paul, 3/16" is the estimated inner dimensions (its actually a bit larger), the outer dimensions are just a hair over 3/8" close to 7/16" id go with 30 ft. you'll have some extra in case you make a mistake. and yes you can get some from fenix props but it is much more expensive and ships from Argentina Quote
troopermaster Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 Mason, That looks like a winner to me Is it gloss PVC edging? Quote
dashrazor Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 Mason, That looks like a winner to me Is it gloss PVC edging? yep, and its really super durable and conforms to the armor very nicely here is the profile and actual inside measurements (the 3/16" is only the open center gap, the actual total overlap is about 1/4") Quote
troopermaster Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 I see what you mean now about the inside measurement and that is just fine. It's the outside that needs to look bigger and it does, so I would say this should be perfectly good stuff to use for any ROTJ armour. If it does not conform to the armour in certain areas, I believe a bit of gentle heat with an air gun or hair dryer should persued it Quote
dashrazor Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 i just set it in the sun for an hour then apply with super glue. here is my ROTJ style butt Quote
Murdock1138 Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 The bayliner gear looks like it's perfect, but shipping to the UK is $90 :shok: :shok: Does anyone know of any UK based firm that does a similar product? Quote
dashrazor Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 looks like they have economy shipping on the bay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BAYLINER-1733532-WHITE-3-16-INCH-BOAT-U-MOLDING-FT-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2eb4110ed0QQitemZ200589512400QQptZBoatQ5fPartsQ5fAccessoriesQ5fGear Quote
troopermaster Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 Best thing to do is get someone in the US to buy it for you and ship it. Chances are it will be cheaper but by how much I don't know? The stuff I found in the UK is too small or the other I found was too dull and off white, but it was the right size. Quote
Murdock1138 Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 How off white is the off white stuff? With the CFO kit(as I understandit) being slightly off white itself, wold it not work? Besides, if or when I start my build I'd want to 'grubby' it up anyway. The only white stuff I was able to find(and honestly I've only started researching) was that textured stuff-waay wrong. Quote
Rich330[TK] Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 30 ft of the Bayliner stuff shipped internationally works out at $ 80.01. The shipping constitutes $ 50.31 of that which is really not bad at all. It seems like a lot when compared to the value of the goods but considering the sheer bulk of it, it's a decent deal. I don't think it's much more the net costs of what they pay at USPS. It looks good, gets the seal (no pun intended) of approval from Paul and Mason. It's an important detail and 57.52 euros or 50 quid is an OK price to pay in the scheme of things, so I ordered mine direct. Thanks for the link, Mason. I thought this was going to prove more of a headache than it did. Quote
troopermaster Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 How off white is the off white stuff? Take a look. Quote
that954trooper[TK] Posted August 9, 2011 Author Report Posted August 9, 2011 thank god the sites back up........... looks like ill be placing my order here today Quote
