f0xtrooper[501st] Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 Just finished my thigh shims and was looking for some advice. I have glued inner strip and an outer cover strip for the front of the thighs at 20mm looks good if I do say so myself. But found that the thighs could not close completely at the back. I used a piece of 1mm styrene to create an internal shim and have velcroed it to the inside of the thighs. Obviously this left a small V shaped gap so I cut a bit of ABS to make a cover strip to hide the "V". The strip is larger than the front cover strip. Twice as large in fact but it gives the back of the thighs a tidier finish. Im going for deployed TD status and plan to do the calves the same way. Will this pass clearance? Quote
Tray[TK] Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 Will adding that wide of a strip still let it fit you well? Sometimes you just need a second pair of hands in or to glue them closed. Quote
f0xtrooper[501st] Posted July 31, 2011 Author Report Posted July 31, 2011 I have curved the internal shimso it doesnt change the overall shape and they fit great. Its just the look I need to know about. Quote
Tray[TK] Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 they shouldn't judge it based on the shims. There are a number of troopers that must do that to make them fit. I don't think you should have a problem. Quote
