n0c00lgamertag Posted July 30, 2011 Report Posted July 30, 2011 I am at the point when it is time to put the lenses inside of the helmet, and want to know how different people do it so that I don't mess it up. I would like the lenses to be only semi-permanent, in case they scratch or break I don't want to have to do major surgery to replace them. Ok, go... Quote
SamJ[501st] Posted July 30, 2011 Report Posted July 30, 2011 You can E6000 them in or even use velcro. Just don't use hot glue as it can melt your plastic. Quote
TrooperVenger Posted July 30, 2011 Report Posted July 30, 2011 Mine are held in with duck tape. Quote
Tray[TK] Posted July 30, 2011 Report Posted July 30, 2011 i used hot glue and I didn't melt my plastic. It all depends on the material your kit is made of. Quote
1mpulseS0D Posted July 30, 2011 Report Posted July 30, 2011 I screwed mine in with the screws holding the bucket together Quote
NoVATie[Admin] Posted July 30, 2011 Report Posted July 30, 2011 I used hot glue and just glued them in without gluing the top of the lenses in place. They sit back a little from the faceplate (but you can't tell) and it gives a little ventilation to help with fogging. Quote
bobojuice Posted July 30, 2011 Report Posted July 30, 2011 I use hot glue. I just make sure to keep it at a lower heat so it doesn't melt the eyes. Alternatively you can use silicone. It takes a little longer to set, but once it does you're good to go. Quote
TK5707[501st] Posted July 30, 2011 Report Posted July 30, 2011 many people also make them one piece, wrapped around to the sides and screwed in with the ear screws. Also makes for easy replacement like you were asking for. Quote

TK bondservnt[501st] Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 I've used the ear screws on one bucket, tape on another, and the original AP lenses with mirror lens material behind that. you can use many different ways. Quote
Kilroy Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 I used hot glue but only put little dabs of glue in a few places so it would be easy to pop out later if i wanted to change lenses. Quote

n0c00lgamertag Posted July 31, 2011 Author Report Posted July 31, 2011 Wow, thanks guys. Definitely many different ways of doing it. Quote
Billhag Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 David As others have said, the most screen accurate way is to use a strip of acetate / lighting gell and fix it to the machine screws that hold the ears on the inside of the helmet Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā I personally would stay well away from hot glue, itās unpredictable and messy, and Iāve yet to see a clean lens install with anyone using this stuff <_< Ā Hereās couple of alternative methods that Iāve used over the years Ā I used a foam neoprene surround and just stuck it in with heavy duty double sided tape Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā And hereās my latest way . I use one of my little inventions called āLid-Lashesā (Patent Pending ) which gives you a clean, mean & green look with no mess and no fuss. Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Quote
TK5707[501st] Posted July 31, 2011 Report Posted July 31, 2011 No kidding, people would buy those lid lashes LOL! Cool idea! Quote
n0c00lgamertag Posted August 2, 2011 Author Report Posted August 2, 2011 I certainly would... Let's see them in the Ongoing Project section! Quote
ZacMuleer[TK] Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 So, are the bottoms of the eye pieces not glued in? Just along the neoprene? Quote
