1mpulseS0D Posted July 29, 2011 Author Report Posted July 29, 2011 If i paint them bigger it would start going up the edge of the tear/trap. I hope it doesn't matter how many lines there are in the tears/traps have. Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted July 29, 2011 Report Posted July 29, 2011 Well looking at this picture, it they look too small. Quote
1mpulseS0D Posted July 29, 2011 Author Report Posted July 29, 2011 You mean the one on the cap'n'back? It will be covered by the rubber Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted July 29, 2011 Report Posted July 29, 2011 No i meant the ones in the picture. They look liek they have another mm or two before the edge. Quote
1mpulseS0D Posted July 29, 2011 Author Report Posted July 29, 2011 Thats probably the angle, because i traced the bottom of the tear with a pencil so that i wouldn't draw up on the edge. And when i take a look at the helmet i see that it is precisely not coming up the edge. Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted July 29, 2011 Report Posted July 29, 2011 could be, and in that case, excellent! Quote
1mpulseS0D Posted August 1, 2011 Author Report Posted August 1, 2011 So, time for an update, I've been mostly preparing myself for the scariest thing so far. Gluing. And I've partially overcomed my fear. I've glued one covering strip to one of the biceps which should be cured tomorrow. I'm also going to check with you guys if my tubestripe mask looks ok. As what I've read there isn't any number of tubestripes set in stone so i guess it will do. Now pics Quote
RedSpecial[TK] Posted August 1, 2011 Report Posted August 1, 2011 Looks great, Your'e getting there now Quote
1mpulseS0D Posted August 1, 2011 Author Report Posted August 1, 2011 The painting of the tube stripes didn't go very well, if i messed it up too bad and can't chip of the little paint bleeds tomorrow, i have to get some humbrol thinner and some Dave-M tubestripe decals. Quote
1mpulseS0D Posted August 2, 2011 Author Report Posted August 2, 2011 I managed to remove the paint bleedings and the tubestripes got rather nice Quote
RedSpecial[TK] Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 Nice work ! thats one sharp looking lid Quote
1mpulseS0D Posted August 2, 2011 Author Report Posted August 2, 2011 Would using a sharpie be enough for the ear ranks? Quote
1mpulseS0D Posted August 2, 2011 Author Report Posted August 2, 2011 Ye, i notice it now. I took a scrap piece and drew some black on it, wasn't as glossy as humbrol. But i just got a hard time cleaning the brushes properly. Not that i got too much more to paint now But still.. Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 That's why you should get the thinner, to clean your brushes Quote
1mpulseS0D Posted August 2, 2011 Author Report Posted August 2, 2011 That's why you should get the thinner, to clean your brushes Do you think "Havannamagasinet" got humbrol thinner? Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 No idea. But it's usually found in the same kind of hobby stores that sell humbrol paints. But you could use acetone as well. Might not work as well, but good enough. Quote
1mpulseS0D Posted August 7, 2011 Author Report Posted August 7, 2011 I got my first whole piece done this weekend The left bicep. I just got to sand some of the covering strips down and then it is completely done! (except strapping ) I also painted the o2 canister so that is ready for assembly! How long should the metal clips be? Quote
1mpulseS0D Posted August 12, 2011 Author Report Posted August 12, 2011 (edited) My forearm is currently beeing sealed at one side, the other will be sealed tomorrow. Pictures on sunday Edited August 12, 2011 by 1mpulseS0D Quote
1mpulseS0D Posted August 14, 2011 Author Report Posted August 14, 2011 And so here is a picture of the full right arm! I have tried it on with underarmor but didn't take that on for this picture. I think that my forearm is a little too snug, but i don't feel that when having the underarmor on. Onto the next arm Oh, also i have a teaser for you Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted August 14, 2011 Report Posted August 14, 2011 I also painted the o2 canister so that is ready for assembly! How long should the metal clips be? Considering the canvas belt is 3 inches wide, make the clips long enough to curve across about half the tube for the detonator, and then maybe co down about 2-2.5 inches behind your belt. Or you can just but ready made clips by TK-4702 You're doing great progress! Quote
KarinOlava Posted August 15, 2011 Report Posted August 15, 2011 (edited) If i paint them bigger it would start going up the edge of the tear/trap. I hope it doesn't matter how many lines there are in the tears/traps have. Just read this thread now, so a bit late response to this.. oh well.. You shouldn't worry about going a little up on the edge with the paint. That's what I did when I painted BH-7060's AP helmet. Felt that the tears and traps were a bit on the small side when I had them marked right where the edge starts. So after a bit on marking it all up with a pencil I had something that looked more accurate even if it did go up on the edge a bit. The egde on the AP helmet also has a a bit more soft bend in the tears then my TM, but trust me, it won't look weird if you paint a bit more there otherwise, looks great! Here's a picture of the helmet and paint job: Another tip for the paint is to use pandatroopers method, that's what I did. Link here (just scroll down till you see it). With this you only need to focus on getting one line straigh at a time Anyway, hope you have as much fun with your build as I am with mine! Edited August 15, 2011 by Acima Quote
1mpulseS0D Posted August 15, 2011 Author Report Posted August 15, 2011 Thanks for the tip Karin . But i got my helmet as i wanted it to look, very happy with the result Working on getting my second arm done. Do i have to have my TK-boots for making the shins? Quote
1mpulseS0D Posted August 18, 2011 Author Report Posted August 18, 2011 Could i have this thread moved to ANH builds? Quote
