On a more serious note: why doesn't the guy wear a balaclava? In fact, on none of the neck seal pics no one ever wears one.

Maybe it was only after they realized that you could see through the frown holes and see the actors faces that they started using them later in the film.

But I guess, most of us know the story about that "trooper".

 

Maybe the balaclave was the first thing the extras removed after the AD yelled "CUT" because they're uncomfortable.

I don't believe the troopers wore balaclavas I also don't believe the original ANH helmets had frown mesh either.

I know this is a toy but it is based on the one they used in the movie and is not disilmilar to an ANH neck seal.

Just for the record. I was kidding about the originals having frown mesh. It was a joke I had with Karin in another thread. I looked on the web for quite a while and couldn't find a single picture of a trooper with a balaclava. Maybe you are right Gary. Maybe they didn't use them at all.

Gary, you're right.It is quite similar. But you can clearly see on the slashed part, there are np ribs.

After some old school construction, I come up with this:

 

 

I even bought a childrens' compass

 

 

This is just to get the dimensions right.

 

Next step: fiber glassing, and making the details with bondo.
