JoeR Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 (edited) Nah good trimming and glue...no sealant on the film helmets John. Edit - it should be glue although not exactly sure what type... Edited April 30, 2011 by JoeR Quote
Rich330[TK] Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 From the slight bubbling, I'd say he ran a line of plastic weld down the join. Quote

keith Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Great job Pete! I can't wait to do a weathered helmet myself now my pristine version is finished (well it will be when i get some decals for it). What are you using for the lenses? Keith. Quote
stukatrooper Posted May 3, 2011 Author Report Posted May 3, 2011 Thanks guys, Keith as for the lenses i got a job lot of welders number 5 dark green face shields from the states.I had cut out the eyes in one piece so used the plastic from the eyes as a base to build up a mold in air dry clay. Then all i did was use a heat gun on the face shield to pull the shapes.I only made one set as the molds cracked but they did their job. john danter Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Good man. I had to use it on mine as mine was a seconds lid so it was sprayed. Top job. Looking forward to the rest Quote
keith Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 I was planning on doing something like that Pete for the lenses. Pushing them through the eye sockets of the helmet is too risky. I'm going to take two partial fiberglass castings of the face buck (just the eye sections). One casting will have deep eye sockets and the other will have more trimmed out eye sockets, so i will have a choice how to trim the eyes on the kits. I will have to give the welders shield a try. What did you use to form the shape? Keith. Quote
sskunky Posted June 1, 2011 Report Posted June 1, 2011 Any update Pete? I would love to see this on a person...... Quote
sskunky Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 Pete? Not heard anything on this for quite some time bro....... I would like to see this finished mate on a real live person...... Quote
sskunky Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 this seemed to have fizzled out? Quote
Rich330[TK] Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 (edited) this seemed to have fizzled out? Yeah, bit of a shame. Started off brilliantly (we don't expect anything less than brilliant from Pete). But don't worry, mate. You'll see mine complete and in action soon enough. Edited September 19, 2011 by Rick330 Quote
