SW1 Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Hi Guys , I alway wanted to do a HDPE build (THE CHIPPER) and try to replicate the origanl ANH screen look , heres where iam at the moment just arrived this week , cheers Gino. Quote
Shooter Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Lookin' good Stephen, what are you going to use for the undercoat? Quote
Sonnenschein Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Lookin' good Stephen, what are you going to use for the undercoat? Why undercoat? It's already HDPE colored! Quote
SW1 Posted March 9, 2011 Author Report Posted March 9, 2011 Karin your right HDPE baby alll the way @ Matt , iam going to use a redish spray for the inside of the lid as per the origanls and blend it in with the white and have some hdpe showing at the top inside , i have been told of a white paint to use from a freind who has done a few hdpe builds it will not require a primer just 3-4 coats of it should do it , and then chip away at it in small areas dont want to have loads of chippings just anoth as were the origanal helmets . @ Karin pics comming soon of your knuckle hand gaurds Quote
AJCG Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 (edited) Very nice Stephen! I can't wait to see your helmet fully done Cheers A Edited March 9, 2011 by AJCG Quote
stormtrooperguy[501st] Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Cool! At some point I want to do a chipped helmet. Weathering / flaking paint type stuff is my favorite type of build to do. Quote
Shooter Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 Awesome Stephen, looking forward to following this! Quote
dcarty Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 Interesting, I'm looking forward to your build! It looks like there is a least some teardrop detail in your helmet. I was under the impression that Gino was going to remove that detail from the helmets he sold which is why I decided to pass. Maybe he just softened it a bit instead of removing it? Cheers, Dave Quote
Trooperman Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 Looking forward to your build Stephen can i ask what thickness the HDPE is? Quote
SW1 Posted March 11, 2011 Author Report Posted March 11, 2011 Hi Kevin , the thickness is .060 gauge so quite thin but quite flexy at the same time Quote
1970si Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 I can see the tear drop detail as well in the first picture - Did Gino sell you it with the detail? j Quote
Midnight Trooper Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 Can you take a picture of the tear detail? I would be surprised if your helmet had it. I will be watching this thread as I build up my own Gino helmet. Quote
SW1 Posted March 12, 2011 Author Report Posted March 12, 2011 Your Right midnight trooper there are bumps on the tear traps but i know now looking closer it dose not have the rectangle line detail ummm wounderwhy that was not put in ? Quote
1970si Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 Could you take a close up picture of the tear drops - I asked Gino if he was making these kits with them now and he said they are not there. thanks, jack Quote

Lone wolf[TK] Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 It is a shame this helmet is not fully accurate but will still look great when it is finished. Quote
Amish Trooper Posted March 15, 2011 Report Posted March 15, 2011 It is a shame this helmet is not fully accurate but will still look great when it is finished. It is a shame but i'm super excited about the SiMan helmet that will be released. Good luck with this build I like the HDPE look Quote
Amish Trooper Posted March 15, 2011 Report Posted March 15, 2011 (edited) SiMan is the owner newly found ANH suit in England and he has casted the helmet and unlike Gino is not modifying it and is leaving all the details on it. http://www.therpf.com/f45/original-1977-anh-stormtrooper-armor-helmet-95954/ Edited March 15, 2011 by Amish Trooper Quote
