HI all,

I was looking at some photos on star wars helmet.com and counting the stripes on different helmets and the numbers are all over the place.\

i wonder if there is an official number for the amount that the helmetss should have....

The movie is the official source of everything Stormtrooper... find a screenshot you like , and copy that helmet . Simple . There can be no official figure because they varied in the Movies (except for Mr NoStripes of course , who was pretty conscistant.

yes,

it is one of those small details i guess...i never noticed this until i started to want to build my bucket and later my armor, all kinds of odd little details everywhere..it is super fun to hunt for those details and try to reproduce them...

The average seem to be 15-16 stripes for stunt helmets. But as was already mentioned, no definite number can be given, it's more of a guideline than a rule.

The hero helmet had generally a few less stripes on the tubes, AFAIK.

you really should refer to the CRL for this kind of info

from the ANH stunt CRL

Blue tube stripes, matching what was used on screen - navy blue and black are not acceptable. There must be at least 9 and a maximum of 15. The curve must bend backwards. There does not need to be an equal amount per side.

Correct me if i am wrong

counted the stripes on star wars helmets.com even tough i think there was a standard to the numbers.

ANH helmets only:

looking towards helmet means holding the helmet in front of you and looking straight at it...but if you would paint right cheek turn look cheek and left cheek turns right cheeks...

set for stun

Dave M helmet looking towards helmet ---------- 15 left cheek------------- 16 right cheek

Brian R helmet looking towards helmet ---------- 9 left cheek ?----------- 11 right cheek

move along helmet looking towards helmet ----------- 13 left cheek------------ 16 right cheek

stop that ship

looking towards helmet ----------- 13 left cheek ---------- 13 right cheek

Hero ---------- 11 left cheek ----------- 12 right cheek

mister no stripes --------- 0 left cheek ---------- 0 right cheek

I don't know if those numbers are correct, but if they are someone should sure as hell make a sticky reference for them. It'd save a lot of people the counting...

Personally, I'll be doing 9 and 13 stripes when I get around to painting my helmet, 'cause it's my birthday numbers.

I agree with Mason: these things have already been figured out, there is no need to re-invent the wheel here, just do a little digging using the search button and you'll quickly find what you need.
