john danter Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 (edited) I've finally pulled my freeking finger out and made my 'flubble' lenses. I used to make these years ago by hand. Now I've let my machine help me make them To the outside world these are hero lenses (bubbled) but your vision in the centre is like a normal stunt lense (flat) Flat and bubble = Flubble A picture speaks a 1000 words, so here they are in clear plastic showing my lovely eyes Using moulds I made 3 years ago, lol I make these Cut out they look like this Placed inside a lid, they look like this Your vision looks like this As you can see, (no pun intended) vision is blurred and curved on the outside but relatively undistorted on the inside John Edited January 25, 2021 by gmrhodes13 photo updated gmrhodes13 2021 Quote
SW1 Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 Hi John i have bubble lenses in my TM Hero and i must say i have to have my eyes sitting at the top of the lenses not so tripy feeling when they are postioned there, i would want to troop in it well not for hours anyway , i could see me having one of my dizzy head days Quote

john danter Posted January 15, 2011 Author Report Posted January 15, 2011 i would want to troop in it well not for hours anyway , i could see me having one of my dizzy head days Exactly dude, that's whay I made these. they'll be for sale when I make a few more if you're interested Quote
SW1 Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 Yes John very much intrested they look fab by the way , how much will you be knocking them out for ? Quote
Daetrin[Admin] Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 That's excellent! On my Hero they were made by Mike Appling and I can see through them easily for even a long troop. Seems you've achieved the same apex. Nice Quote
Sonnenschein Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 Nice! Now I'd only need an hero helmet! Quote
john danter Posted January 15, 2011 Author Report Posted January 15, 2011 Yes John very much intrested they look fab by the way , how much will you be knocking them out for ? I'm not sure as it depends on how I manage to cut them out of the sheet. Well, you can have them as a strip with the lenses you trim yourself, or I can dremel them out for you but then they'd be a bit more. Plus I can't remember how much I paid for all the perspex. I bought it ages ago lol I'll work it out Quote
RogueTrooper[TK] Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 Great work John!! BTW what is the gauge/thickness of the material? Quote
ObiHahn[TK] Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 Do you also make them in dark green? Quote
john danter Posted January 18, 2011 Author Report Posted January 18, 2011 (edited) I've worked out I can do these for £10 a pair (not trimmed, just cut out) Hoping to sell a pair of these and a pair of my hero ears at £8 So a a hero upgrade kit will be £18 So these ------------ and these --------- Let me know if anyone is interested. I'll start a thread in the correct place now Edited January 25, 2021 by gmrhodes13 link not working, removed gmrhodes13 2021 Quote
Sonnenschein Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 LOL... I like the "hero upgrade kit" Quote
Sonnenschein Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 There was no "real" hero hand armor. Both styles of hand guards were worn by stunt and hero troopers Quote
john danter Posted January 19, 2011 Author Report Posted January 19, 2011 Yeah Karins on the ball with this Han for example had both types on!!! If you want to replicate that look that would be cool Quote
sixxgunn13 Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 (edited) thx Edited January 19, 2011 by sixxgunn13 Quote
Sonnenschein Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 I'd be in for a set of green ROTJ ones Quote
john danter Posted March 30, 2011 Author Report Posted March 30, 2011 Hi Karin Right then.... I tried my lenses on one if Joes lids They look cool but ROTJ lids seem to have a curved top edge as opposed to ANHs flatter profile My lenses fit a ANH based lid very well So if youve cut your eye sockets yet, great I have some ready formed for you I'll be back home Friday night, so hassle me Saturday John Quote
Sonnenschein Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 My lenses fit a ANH based lid very well So if youve cut your eye sockets yet, great He John, didn't get that part, Can I make them to fit? Quote
Gaz Solo Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 i've got a pair of John's lenses and they are very good, with great vision (especially when compared to SDS for example ) question though... under the requirements for Hero Elite it states : Lenses are a flat green sufficiently dark enough to obscure the costumer's eyes so, can i still use the grey bubbles to get cleared?? oh, and i'll need some Hero ears Quote
