OK, it's not a perfect suit but I figure I've been trooping in it for 6 months and it at least meets all the must haves :)

OK, I think I got it all. After this, anyone who's tried to explain to a wife what shots to get and how to look for armor adjustments - you have my full sympathy.

woooooo look who's asking for EIB. Paul can't you just give yourself that badge?

First your tubestripes are backwards

you have 11 ab buttons

your boots are 2 different sizes

your belt has spaghetti sauce on it

and we can see your dirty underwear !

pfffffffffffff

Where are the close ups of the shoulder bridges, ab plate buttons ( the top one of the 5 looks white? ) and lens colour? and the front shot is what i would call the action shot, not a decent straight on front shot?

Things i noted were the belt looks loose and is too low, not showing the correct gap between the kidney and butt plate and the drop boxes are too low..

I would have liked to have seen a flawless request from the boss, but like many other EIB threads recently the quality has gone south :(

Sorry to be so blunt Paul, but the idea of the programme was to help raise the bar - something which you now more about than most as you started this detachment. But i must say in the quest to level mepd the most basic standards of even applying correctly are getting lower all the time :(

Im sure its nice armour and you have the details right but for anyone reading this, its important to get the details right for the application - and more so if you are the leader of the gang.

I saw some minor flaws just like Mark did. These can be easily corrected and pictures taken. The one other thing that I didn't see is a close up of the Hovi's.

I remember you wearing this armor at C5 and it didn't have any major problems that day and you were actually one of the better TK's in the group in that trooping.

I think this will help a lot of other people that have been through or will be going through this process to understand that it is a learning experience that is not mistake proof.

Look forward to seeing you get your ESB EI. :salute:

No worries Mark - I don't subscribe to the belief that officers in detachments or even garrisons are any better than anyone else, or deserve special treatment. We're all Legion members together after all.

Alas, yeah the photos could be better. I tried to cram as much as I could into an epsiode of Dora to keep the kids from getting underfoot and was challenged in getting my wife to understand what I needed. No worries - there's a troop this Saturday and I'll see if I can bribe someone to take time away from the troop to take some better photos for me.

i think at times people sometimes forget that the 501st is not a prop replication club, where it would be cool if everyone had the money time and skill to make a 100% screen accurate suit, that is just not realistic, the EI program is not an elitist group by any means. the program is in place to encourage members to take there build a step above the legion standards. IMO setting the bar too high in anything can see diminishing returns in time, it could in fact eventually lead to the downfall of 501st membership if it is not kept in check. i remember when i first got involved in prop making and the 501st, the driving force that kept me coming back was the fact that it is FUN ;) i think everyone should sit back, take a deep breath, and try to remember the reasons they joined in the first place..... sorry to rant..

and Paul it looks great . just a pic showing the belt adjusted and you should be good to go ;) paint the missing ab button (3 blue + 6 gray) and a good shot of the shoulder straps (cant really see them well)

pat... gotta love your 2 cents :P

Doh! Good call on the buttons. Yeah, that one top one is wrong - yeah a new sticker would do it - I think I'm plum out.

Thanks for the punch list Mason - I'll be sure to get them done. And, it will allow me a chance to use the elastic on the bridges. They are correct in being glued in front and free floating in the back, but it would add that bit of kick, no?

i picked up some white elastic the other day ($0.75 walmart craft section)

One thing I always appreciate is good fitting armour. I really love the slim-tapered biceps on this suit, Paul.

Congratulations Paul! A lot of us here including myself owe you for being in the EIB! Take care my good friend!

Hmmm interesting, you seem to be almost advocating the lowering of standards? Setting the bar too high? I don't believe the bar is set too high and I don't believe that working to the lowest common denominator to facilitate greater membership of EIB is the way to go. Remember EIB is a choice and in no way compulsory and please correct me if I am wrong but I don't believe it affects your membership of this detachment. I do believe that helping and encouraging those troopers that are of a mind to go EIB to go the extra yard is what we should and what I always thought we were about- Troopers helping Troopers!. Yes the idea is to take our TK's to an above legion level but your suggestions seem to imply to me that we shouldn't be the best we can be. The information now available to us is phenomenal and the kind of upgrades that are generally suggested are rarely that expensive, as you point out yourself with your example of elastic at Walmart. I personally will try to help and encourage in the way that I was helped and encouraged when I was upgrading my armour to EIB standards. I am extremely proud of my EIB award and have always valued my membership here. I don't think any of this is unrealistic in any way and I will continue to help where I can, that is the FUN of this place for me!

Sorry for the Hijack Paul - you look good buddy but that Ab-button definitely needs addressing :P so are you going to go for the triple???:duim:

I'd say EIB approved. but it's not my call.

one AB button? a loose belt? lot's of us have loose belts!

Not so much since I put on those 20 lbs ;)

Paul, looking good, but maybe get those pics taken by your garrison mates. They will have a much better understanding of what you want.

I remember my EIB pics took over an hour before I was happy with them, and I know my missus would knife me well before that sort of time span had passed.

myself i would rather see 10 passable EIB applicants (meeting the must haves) even if they need some corrections, than one UBER elite applicant every now and then.

(Daetrin}

Yes, this is the whole point of the EI program, just as it was with MEPD. This will never change. We've been asked to have an uber-accurate program like MEPD SWAT. All I can say is that it's in the plans for post-election :)

Honestly, the reason I started EI was to at least encourage people to make their out of the box FX at least look decent rather than the bottom of the barrel costume it had become in the Legion.

Out of 2200 Legion TKs, we only have a 6.5% adoption rate. MEPD has over 33% of Legion TD's as MEPD deployed.

Am I pushing EI? You bet - I'd rather see 733 barely passable EI's that at least are EI compared to 100 hyper accurate EI's. It's great that people want to push the EI program further, but remember MEPD was at 33% of the Legion before they tighted the standards. There is no way I could get Police Officer status today with the costume I got it with back in 2005.

Nah...its pretty black and white. Make the corrections and your done. They are minor and are really just quick fix and adjustments.

I applied for EIB a few years ago and was denied because of blaster only, IIRC. Unfortunately I sold the armor after that!! :)

Its not abig deal. There is a STANDARD and we all need to be the same.

Guys - I could have pushed photos to Mason via PM and made correction after correction until they passed, then posted a fantastic EI thread. But what's the value in that and why should I be treated differently? Is it wrong for me to show my flaws? I wore this suit to C5 and was seen by thousands of people and had dozens of photographs taken, so I know it's EI. Heck, it's the suit used in my Avatar.

Did a sticker fall off and me put the wrong one on? Yeah, can't I make mistakes too? Should it prevent me from EI? Absolutely!

Gary/Mark - no one is advocating lowering standards, but we also want to delineate between must and should haves. I mean, hasn't everyone's belt slipped from time to time? Hasn't everyone not had the best pictures from time to time.

Should I have tried to put together a better EI thread? You bet, but I've had countless people take bad pictures for me even when they were 501st that didn't show all the right details, and I got impatient as it seems to just drag on over the months.

As noted, these are small adjustments and I'll just do what everyone else needs to do to get my designation. Sorry that I was human folks.

Thanks Dave! Yeah, I should have been more liberal in my beer budget. Usually after a few snaps they dash off to the event and I don't know how they come out until days later. I'll ensure they're perfect this weekend.

after all what would look better for the legion as a whole

Is that a serious question?

With not one single doubt, the second pic is what a better legion should look like. Seriously.

Now go add paint chipping to your helmet, Daetrin! ;)

Given my home situation and the challenges taking pix there or at an event, I decided to fork over the dough and booked a professional photographer. Appointment date is a week from Wed, so it will be awhile before I update this thread.

More shots of the armor in action though. I mean, hey who doesn't like photos? :)
