I'm in Wales, UK near Cardiff/Swansea, (probably won't know those places unless you come from the UK) so not a whole lot of conventions etc go on around here as far as I'm aware, so I was wondering what you guys do when it comes to trooping?

Do you stay localy or go further afield for your troops?

If you do travel, do you go in a group or on your own?

Anyone here actualy gone to another country to troop?

Trooping away might have issues for me because of work as I work almost every weekend, I only get 1 in 6 weekends off. But I hope to at the very least do a couple per year. (Pending costume clearence of course)

I'd love to hear what you guys and galls do in this respect.

I've trooped in another country - a great experience :)

And something I would like do again someday.

I usually stay local, simply because my work and personal schedule doesn't typically allow for frequent road trips. I do like to hit DragonCon annually - a 12-hr drive one-way. I also like to attend Shevacon, which is a lot closer but still a road-trip (3 - 4 hour drive each way) nonetheless.

For the troops that require road trips, I try to buddy-up with at least one other trooper - saves on gas, lodging, etc.

Haven't done an out-of-country troop yet, but looking forward to the experience. B)

Ricky, there'll be a few events in or near to Cardiff soon

Saturday 12th T M0bile Event ~Merthyr Tydfil~South Wales-Rhyd-y-car Leisure Centre, Merthyr Tydfil

Saturday 26th Cardiff Comic Expo ~ Cardiff-Mecure Holland House Hotel, Cardiff

Hope that helps

Lots of us do international troops. the Star Wars Celebrations are a favourite, as are things like Legoland troops in Germany etc

In the UK, usually when you start, you'll go all over the UK to troop but then may just go for ones near to you...? Sometimes we have weekend troops and we stay for several days. these are great as you get to socialise in the hitel afterwards etc

John :)

PS: I live in Cardiff

John's right Ricky, there will be some local events for you I assure you but as he says it is also worth trying to get to some of the weekend troops like the NSC, Mem or Expo where you get a chance to troop and socialise with a greater number of members. As Brian suggested you can save money by getting together with one or more to lessen the costs share the driving etc. Also as Mark and John have both said if you get the chance to go overseas to troop that is a wonderful experience, fortunately 'Stormtrooper' is the same in any language. :peace:

Does 18 hours in an aeroplane count as an out of country troop? CV rocked!!!

Ricky, once you've been bitten by the bug, you'll go just about anywhere to chuck on the plastic, and have fun with your mates.

Working weekends sucks. I try to work my roster out well in advance, that way I can get to the troops that mean the most to me. I normally do 2 12 hour drive troops a year, and I try to work them into my annual holidays.
