andy19422 Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 Hi guys, firstly a happy new year to you all. I thought I would finally get round to telling you a story i heard in the summer. I had to collect a bag of Sterlings from a gun shop a couple of hours drive away, the shop was filled with de-act guns as well as a few live ones. I got talking to the owner, a very nice bloke, and found out that he was one of the first dealers to specialize in deactivated weapons which was in the late 70's. The talk finally got on to the Sterings and the Star Wars connection, and then he amazed me with this story. He told me he was called up by the studio to see if he wanted to buy some guns they no longer needed. When he got there he was shown a crate of Sterlings, but on inspection he found they were made with alloy cast parts so refused to buy them These blasters must have been from ROTJ, he also told me that his Friend picked one up and still has it in a cupboard. Maybe I'LL try and ask if i can get some pics of it. Out of interest how much dos an original screen used ROTJ blaster go for these days. Quote
john danter Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 £5 tops I'll give you £6 Cool if it turns out to be true!! What with JoeR's suits I also suspect ROTJ suits to be popular this year Quote
Stormy320 Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 Where is the shop located? That's quite a story. Let me guess...he is in his 70s? Quote
andy19422 Posted January 1, 2011 Author Report Posted January 1, 2011 Where is the shop located? That's quite a story. Let me guess...he is in his 70s? His shop is on the South coast of England, and i have no reason to doubt the story, hopefully I'm going to a big militaria show at the end of the month, and i'll speak more to him Quote
john danter Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 Late 70s would have been ANH blasters or even ESB not ROTJ which was released in 83 ESB used casted guns......? Quote

Sonnenschein Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 didnt they use airsoft versions of the sterling on rotj? Quote
sskunky Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 They used MGC Sterlings in ROTJ and as far as I know they also used cast ones too. Quote
troopermaster Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 didnt they use airsoft versions of the sterling on rotj? I don't think airsoft was around in those days Karin. MGC's are cap firing, shell ejecting, full scale metal replicas - MGC E-11 I used to have an MGC M4A1 Quote
Sonnenschein Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 That's what I meant, thanks Paul! Quote
RogueTrooper[TK] Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 I think they did make resin cast of the MGC Sterling ROTJ E11 for the back ground. Quote
