seantrooper[TK] Posted December 1, 2010 Author Report Posted December 1, 2010 just did the chest plate mod. here is how it looks how it looked before before the return edge and after the return edge Quote
Rich330[TK] Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Good job on the chest plate. Hats off to you! Quote
tk8428 Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 i have the same problem with chest plates lol sucks to be short but well done commander.. Quote
seantrooper[TK] Posted January 12, 2011 Author Report Posted January 12, 2011 well I have closed the side gaps and gotten accurate Hovi Mic Tips... I'll get some more correct tube stripe decals off a garrison member.I think I will put a return edge on my shoulder bells as well I will try to post up some photos in the next few days. ALso as a question... is it possible to apply for EIB without 501st approval? Sean Quote
seantrooper[TK] Posted January 13, 2011 Author Report Posted January 13, 2011 I trimmed up my shoulder bells, and gave them a return edge I think my TKC is up to EIB standard now, although i think I'll just have to get some tube stripe decals off a garrison member. Should have some photos of my entire suit at some stage in the next couple of days Before One side trimmed untrimmed side for comparison Return Edge Finished! I heated up the sides and squeezed them in a bit to give them that 'screen used' look I also have some accurate hovis opinions welcome Quote
seantrooper[TK] Posted January 13, 2011 Author Report Posted January 13, 2011 JUst got some photos taken, please let me know what you think A bit of editing Quote
tkrestonva[TK] Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 I think you look great! I'm planning on resurrecting my semi-retired FX kit as a TKC, and will start on the painting once the weather warms up (it's winter up here in the Northern Hemisphere). I'll definitely be using both yours and Rick's TKC builds as my reference guides. It looks like you and Rick both used the same color paint and weathering technique, which of course I'll be emulating along with Rick's battle damage technique. Since I'm in the U.S., I'll be going with Testors #1151 Blue Angel Blue - the equivalent to Humbrol #15. What weathering technique did you use to get that grimy look? Quote
seantrooper[TK] Posted January 17, 2011 Author Report Posted January 17, 2011 thanks mate, To get the grimy look its just a black acrylic wash, dabbed on with a rag and dabbed off straight away with another rag for the lighter areas, and just didnt dab off as much for the darker areas (hope that makes sense) After painting on the blue, I sanded down the entire armour to give it a matte finish... then the weathering was applied. My battle damage was just done with different grade sandpapers, whereas I think rick used a bit of masking fluid to get paint chips on his. Sean Quote
Wildabeast[TK] Posted January 17, 2011 Report Posted January 17, 2011 Your TKC looks awesome...great job on the weathering. Quote
Amptrooper Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 Wow man! This TKC is looking great!! You have put a lot of hard work into it and it defiantly shows! Love the new pictures with the brick wall! TKC is where it is at!!! Quote
seantrooper[TK] Posted January 25, 2011 Author Report Posted January 25, 2011 Well to get EIB, I have had to go game reference, which means I have to ROTJ'ify my armour. So here's what I've done so far. Rotate Ab Plate Drop Boxes Closed in at back Rounded Should Bells Trimmed most parts up, just waiting on some plastic from MM before I can fully trim the ab Piece. Quote
tkrestonva[TK] Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Well done. Seeing you modify your kit like that makes me less hesistant to do the same to mine. Quote
Sonnenschein Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) You really have some skills Edit: Woo-hoo! My 1000th post! Edited January 25, 2011 by Sonnenschein Quote
dashrazor Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 looks fantastic!!! great job!!! Quote
seantrooper[TK] Posted January 27, 2011 Author Report Posted January 27, 2011 thanks guys! when I get some spare plastic, I'm going to put on the extra Ab-button as seen in my reference pics. Also going to "extend" the ab plate sides by adding on extra plastic and filling the seam with plastibond, going to look good That should finish it off Quote
seantrooper[TK] Posted February 6, 2011 Author Report Posted February 6, 2011 (edited) Quick update going to sculpt on the 5th ab button today. have already extended the ab plate and secured all my door trim Will most likely have photos of the ab plate and stuff today, will try to get some shots of me fully suited up tomorrow or later today Edited February 6, 2011 by seantrooper Quote
seantrooper[TK] Posted February 8, 2011 Author Report Posted February 8, 2011 (edited) EVERYTHING IS DONE here is how my ab plate is at now. Sides extended and 5th ab button put on. will hopefully get some photos in full kit in the next few days Edited February 8, 2011 by seantrooper Quote
seantrooper[TK] Posted February 11, 2011 Author Report Posted February 11, 2011 (edited) Painted the recently discovered black onto my ears What I did is just brought up the texture file life size on my screen, traced it onto a piece of paper, then used it as a template to mark out the black. Trout Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Looking good man! What did you use for the piping on the edges of the armor, and I am guessing that you had to cut off the return edge to install it right? Quote
dashrazor Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 if you live in the us i recommend this for the edge trim http://greatlakesskipper.com/product/791_793-rub-rail-rub-rail-and-gunnel-molding/11770--barbour-plastics-white-18-inch-boat-u-molding-ft.html it looks fantastic and is very inexpensive.. and yes you need to eliminate the return edges.. and Sean i am really liking this :vader1: Your skills are complete. Indeed you are powerful, as the Emperor has foreseen. Quote
Amptrooper Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Funny, we all seem to be using the same or similar blue even though the game has about 15 different shades of blue! Quote
Locitus[Admin] Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Awesome work Sean! Going the extra mile by another mile! Quote
seantrooper[TK] Posted February 12, 2011 Author Report Posted February 12, 2011 Thanks guys I want to make it as accurate as possible. I left the return edge on my chest piece...should I get rid of it? From what reference shots of rotj I have seen it is difficult to tell if there is one or not. Quote
seantrooper[TK] Posted February 15, 2011 Author Report Posted February 15, 2011 got suited up today, here is where I'm at. Just noticed my thigh piece had turned a little.. oh well let me know what you think Quote
