BlackDOG[TK] Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Ok, I have Karin's flexible hand plates...I tried painting them with the paint I used for the rest of my ATA... It looked awesome till I slightly flexed one. The paint ripped and peeled.... Ideas? Leave as is? Use a different paint? J. Quote
dashrazor Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 i left mine as is. pretty much nothing sticks to silicone, but silicone Quote
john danter Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 Try mixing the acrylic paint with latex Acrylic paints flex a little anyway but the addition of latex will flex a lot more Quote
Dmian Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 White Plastidip was recommended to me by R2Dan. But I haven't tried it yet. I guess is a good option. Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 I mix model builder latex with acrylic paint. simple poster paint. mix in a plastic container a very small amount. and paint the handplates with the mixture. Quote
pandatrooper[TK] Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 If they are latex, you can paint them as described. If they are silicone, you can weather them - but you can't change the color. As John stated, nothing sticks to silicone except silicone. Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 (edited) www.smooth-on.com has pigments for silicone. they have lot's of different pigments for silicones... anyone who says you can't paint something, will find that you in fact can paint it! ---- Edited December 5, 2020 by gmrhodes13 link not working, removed gmrhodes13 2020 Quote
BlackDOG[TK] Posted November 8, 2010 Author Report Posted November 8, 2010 wow...thanks for all the info. I don't necessarily have a hard time leaving them "As is", but they do not match the white of my armor.... Quote
Sonnenschein Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 ....", but they do not match the white of my armor.... Neither did the screen used ones As every ody else said, nothing else sticks to silicone but silicone. Since the "non-latex" version consist mainly of silicone.... But if you REALLY have to match the color, use clear silicone chaulk, thin it with lighter fluid, mix white acrylic into it until satisfied, and paint it. TRy it on the back first. Quote
TKDUEUNO Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 I used white Plastidip on both my latex and rubber ones with wonderful results. Sticks perfectly and it's very rugged. Quote
