snoberg Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 I would like to get a thread going of what you guys are using to paint your blasters, and what is doing the best for you all. I personally have used Krylon satin black with a satin clear finish coat for some extra protection. What about you guys? Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 (edited) I use grey primer, flat black spray, flat dry brush for parkerized simulation. along with layers of brass, aluminum, steel and gloss black. finished off with a clear coat lightly sanded. ------------ Edited July 30, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link removed no longer working Quote

dashrazor Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Do you have pics of that hammered metal finish on your build? its kind of hard to see it in the older photos, done before i got a new camera i used it on all of these builds the last one was done in hammered silver the lighting made the color yellow a bit, still its hard to see the hammered texture in photos. its better with the naked eye Quote
john danter Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 All of these come from Halfords in the UK I use primer matt for the body gloss for the handle Steps are Primer Silver metallic paint marker pen on corners etc Masquepen masking fluid on the corners to cover the silver http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MASQUEPEN-Watercolour-Masking-Fluid-Applicator_W0QQitemZ250365409904QQcmdZViewItem?rvr_id=158119112172&rvr_id=158119112172&cguid=a958aa981270a0e2023296d2ff02273e#ht_500wt_922 Then spray matt black. Dry, another spray Masking tape, spray handle gloss black. 2 or 3 coats. Clear laquer the handle (otherwise it comes off after many troops) Rub the masking fluid (dries to a semi stiff rubber like material) off the corners to expose clean silver Spray matt black and gun metal grey onto a cloth and dab that cloth onto the exposed areas so they're not so clean anymore Spray Brass on cloth Dab cloth onto scope corners I think E11s look better if some of the individual parts are emphasised with shades of the gun metal cloth, by rubbing. e.g. the underarm and shoulder butt. end caps etc Done Quote
snoberg Posted October 25, 2010 Author Report Posted October 25, 2010 (edited) Right now my E11 is satin black, its solid black, and I think it looks really good especially considering my trooper is a little more idealized, and I intend to keep the armor polished and shiny. A little weathering on the blaster might still be good though, I have never done it though. Cant decide, plus I would need to sand the whole thing down, might be a chore to repaint. Just get some silver rub n buff and dry brush the corners of your blaster with silver No need to strip it back at all Quote
