Psojka Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Im going to (when i get my armor friday) clear off the old velcro straps on all the armor pieces and replace them with a roll of velcro i got at walmart. what have you guys found to be good to clean and clear off old velcro and not hurt the plastic? thanks in advance, Paul Quote
pandatrooper[TK] Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Use a hair dryer or heat gun on the old velcro to soften the adhesive, then pull it off slowly. It should peel away easily. Use Goo Gone to remove the residue. You may also want to consider using snap plates and elastic or even the new wire hooks to strap your armor together if you want to upgrade it. Quote
juanverde Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Wire hooks ? Panda please explain... a search turned up nada. Sorry to hijack. I'd test that goo begone on a piece that you wouldn't see. I'd be afraid of the chemicals softening and marring the armor. There are some citrus adhesive removers (supposedly non-toxic) that might work - but again, I'd try them on an inconspicous spot. Quote
burnsy Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Furniture Polish, Mr Sheen does the job. Spray it on leave it for 20 mins and then rub off. Some say it may damage or discolour the armour, but I used this method extensively on my kit a few months back and it was fine. Quote
