Skater Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 This is a simple question. I will be constructing an ATA suit soon. It is HIPS. Has anyone used Weld-On adhesives before in construction. I am using #3 for my droid build and was wondering if was alright for armor. Thanks Skater Quote
GosHawk[501st] Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 I used E6000 for my ATA and everyone here will probably say stick with E6000 as well. Only down side to E6000 is the long cure time, but in the long run it holds together really well. Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 the other problem that can happen with E-6000 and metal snap tabs. the heat of the glue touching the snap during cure can generate enough HEAT to melt or warp HIPS styrene. I know. I have had it happen on HIPS. it ruins the part, and makes the need for bondo, and more paint. Quote
gazmosis[501st] Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 I will say it that I am a big supporter of devcon plasti weld. It has a fast set time so make sure you know where you want it to go and where you don't. But if done right, 4 minutes and the piece is done. Quote
