Luke's belt

Luke dosnt have a thermal det pack he has a box witch has the grapling hook.

The TD / O2 cannister just wouldn't have fitted on the belt along with the grappling

hook box mate.There just wasn't enough room as you can see from the back of the

poor unsuspecting trooper that he managed to steal it from

Besides the obvious use by Luke swinging across the bridge... it's actually kind of funny to think that stormtroopers would get grappling hooks issued to them. I mean, can you really see a need for a stormtrooper to swing around in the Death Star?

I think it was a little bit of forward planning by uncle George and the screen writers.

Think about it, no other TK as a comms unit or a grappling hook,...why? <_<

Beeeeee-cozzzz, Luke needed the comms unit in the trash compacter to contact C3PO

.....annnnd he also needed something to do his best Douglas Fairbanks impression with

when he shot the bridge controls out....cue the RATHER smart but handy hook. 8)

Well, it's a good thing that when Han and Luke got dressed that Luke grabbed the belt with the hook, otherwise he'd been screwed when he got to the chasm with the bridge out!
