matt black Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 Hello all. I'm really sorry to post yet another question that has already been asked a thousand times. I have just ordered an AP kit and have started doing my reasearch for cutting and trimming the parts. Can anyone point me in the direction of any build threads that show the trimming process. I am mainly concerned with how much of a return to leave on pieces like the upper legs. Also I've seen quite a few threads where people have painted their AP armour. Is this necessery or is the kit nice and shiney out of the box. Thank you in advance for any help. Rob. Quote
pandatrooper[TK] Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 It's not necessary to paint AP armor since it;s ABS. You can polish it if you want it "more shiney". Check this build here for trimming tips: Quote

I just used a pencil to trace the trim lines and then used a utility knife to score and snap. Take your Time and go Slowly while doing this. Also make sure you have extra blades and use gloves to save you from any trips to the E.R. My thread is posted. I am in the final stages. I am not going to paint my suit. I like the scuff marks from building. To me it makes it look more authentic. Andy Quote

I just want to make sure I don't trim a piece wrong only to be told when I post pics at the end of the build. Quote
pandatrooper[TK] Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 If you're in doubt, draw a pencil line where you intend to trim the plastic first, and post a picture and ask. But most of the parts have lines molded into them as guides. barring that, review the AP build threads - there's lots of great examples. Good luck! Quote
