poisonfox Posted September 17, 2010 Author Report Posted September 17, 2010 True enough, considering the rarity and all. Quote

RogueTrooper[TK] Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 Here. He knows what he's got though... Ā http://cgi.ebay.com/STAR-WARS-M19-STYLE-BLASTER-SCOPE-M-19-ORIG-BRASS-SCOPE-/230524585789?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35ac56073d Ā Ā That is not a real M19, but is a mod/cut down of one of these scopes, M38A2, M40A2, M47A2, M77C, or M77D. The M19 is not the same dimensions and has different design elements compared to these scopes. Ā These scopes (M38A2,M40A2, M47A2, M77C, M77D) were essentially the same as the M38 and M40 scopes. But, the M38A2, M40A2, M47A2, M77C, and M77D had a grooved section in the center of them where a bracket/clamp mount was attached. Ā The person in this auction just cut that section out and made this scope about 18mm shorter. Ā So, in my opinion, they would have been better off selling this scope un-modified instead of trying to make it into an M19 that they are trying to auction off on Ebay. Ā Ā Ā Here is the one in the Ebay auction: Ā Ā Here is a pic of my M38A2, M40A2, M47A2, M77C, M77D scopes, so you can compare and see the missing section: Ā Ā Quote
andy19422 Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 just what i figured, and it looks a bit bent Quote
poisonfox Posted September 17, 2010 Author Report Posted September 17, 2010 I assumed the "bend" was barrel distortion, but you may be right. Wouldn't this be easily solved with a shot of the top of the eyepiece? Quote
Amish Trooper Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 I've been bidding . I'm the current high bidder but I know that won't last Quote
sskunky Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 You lot are crazy! Why in earth are you bidding it up so much so early in the auction? There's still days left on it. All your doing is pushing the price higher and higher. :?: Quote
poisonfox Posted September 17, 2010 Author Report Posted September 17, 2010 I re-read the M19 auction and it looks like he's pretty upfront about the fact that it isn't a real one. Read below... Ā "QUALITY ORIGINAL SCOPE REWORKED TO BE THE SAME LENGTH AS THE M19 SCOPE. Ā THIS IS A CUSTOM ITEM SOLD AS IS" Quote

If I truly want to get it and the price hasn't reached my price point then I do the sneaky thing and snipe Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 if I want it, I'll outbid you during the last 2 minutes of the bidding war! Ā but I have promised not to bid on it steve, so now you can have my bids... Quote
TK_LEPER Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 Wow, and it's the 1st one of it's kind! Those are harder to come by. Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 nobody should buy that m19... it's not real. Ā the other one... looks legit! Quote
Billhag Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 nobody should buy that m19... it's not real. Ā the other one... looks legit! Ā Totaly agree, its been totally messed around with, its not an M-19, plus he's been trying to sell that thing for months now. Just glad that people can see it for what it is <_< Ā The M-38 seems like a nice piece, the one thing that I would say is that I would contact the seller and ask if he as changed or repaired the lens because the 5 front screws seem to be new or at least cleaned up plus the visual that he's shown of the inside as no range markings which is unusual and I've only ever seen that once in all the scopes that I've owned. Ā This is what you would normally see when you look through one Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Still agreat find for the right price Quote
