Hi guys!

Some of you may know that I flew over to London a few weeks back and helped both sskunky and JoeR to form the very first helmets on Joe's moulds. We had some great fun forming all day, and you may have seen the mock-up lid I threw together in the workshop.

Obviously I wouldn't leave without my very own kit - I know a lot of you still think ROTJ lids stink, but these are real beauties! Remember, these come from moulds directly cast from an original, and untouched as well! These lids are something special really!

Anyway, enough talk, here are some pics of my build so far, the next update will take a while, but this is enough eye candy to start with I'd say ;)

Here's how it started:

And here's where I'm at now:

Next to my TM trooping lid :)

Now the waiting starts for decals, mic tips and bubble lenses...

Sweet looking ROTJ head holder :smiley-sw013:

Can't wait to see more :)

it's interesting how they look thinner at the temples on the horizontal axis.

almost like it's a little taller and thinner than the TM next to it.

it looks a little smaller?

cool to see!

it definitely is slimmer - squeezed you could say. Wouldn't say it's smaller or bigger than most my other lids though

I think most think ROTJ are not beautiful as there are so few good ones. Here is an example that I think makes ROTJ look gooooood... :)

I suspect with decent kits, others will find the *way* too.

You know what?, there’s two things that I think of when I see a ROTJ lid

The first is the scene from ‘Young Frankenstein’ when Gene Wilder says

“Hey there handsome! “ to the monster.

And the second is what a friend said when ask what his newly born baby

boy was like and he said “He’s GINGER!, has million freckles and he’s

as ugly as sin, but he’s my boy and I love him to death and no one is ever

going to harm him while I’m still breathingâ€

So. like it or not, the ROTJ helmet may well be the ‘Banjo-playing-misshapened

Ginger-step-brother’ of the beautifully flawless. grey grinned ANH creation

but he’s family, and you’ve just got to love and protect him, …’coz he’s ours

capice? B)

:D

Dont wanna hijack this thread but I am working with Joe on his ROTJ decals. They will be screen printed ghetto style - by me :) and will be the beeeeez kneees if you know what I mean. These will be the most accurate decals I have ever made and they are made only for the CFO-ROTJ helmets. Its gonna be soooooo cool!!!!

Looks great Dan! Ive grown to appreciate the ROTJ buckets. Id like to have, in additon to my trooping buckets, an ANH, ESB and ROTJ on my helmet shelf one day.

Awesome work Dan.

Love the pictures of Keith's boys in the helmets.

Thanks to Mike for his hard work on the decals and pushing the boundaries of accuracy.

I just cut out the eyes a bit more and gaffataped some TE-style bubble lenses into this lid to see what it might look like finished. The lenses don't fit too well, but you get the idea:

Dan, very nice helmet :salute: , I love it. For some people it migh be dificult to appreciate its beauty specially to ANH followers but do not get mistake, this helmet is a beauty!!

I just only will suggest to make the black less glossy other than that it is looking great :duim:

it's not gloss black, it's satin. According to Joe that's what the originals had on them as well :)

I find my self in somewhat of a dichotomy:

Appreciating the beauty of something that is by its very nture as ugly as sin.

Loving it. :duim:

If i look this helmets side by side ,the difference is nice to see.

The softer edges on the RotJ and the slim look.

Looking forward to the finished one.

Lovin it lovin it lovin it!!!

I've started to put together a couple of the lids I kept back from the forming session. They are fun to build. I'll post some pics maybe on my own thread as not to hijack yours Dan.
