puro Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 Finished my AM build, Now I am waiting if I will be approved... Plans are to upgrade the FX bucket with TM to comply with EIB, but while waiting for the delivery, I'd be glad to hear any feedback. Constructive criticism is truly welcome, this is my first build and thus by no means perfect. The key is that I am willing to learn, already the next one will be much better! In the end, I wonder which bucket is bigger?! Front & Back: Spread your wings (and catch the rebel scum!): More details: Left side is with 3 white rivets and holster is attached with 2 snaps behind the belt. Right side you can see the split rivet behind. O2 canister / thermal detonator with clips: Hasbro mod with Dooby greeblies plus some personal touch: Finally some actions shots: "The Fighting 501st, Vader's Fish?" "Those WERE the droids!" "Be vewwy, vewwy quiet...I'm hunting wabbits!" "I think, therefore I am white." Thanks for the 501st members in Nordic Garrison, especially 9827 and 9828 plus our mentor TK-0842. Many thanks for FISD forums for information and support. Troopers helping troopers! Comments welcome, please! Quote
89Batman[TK] Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 Looks pretty good overall, personally I think the new AM is a vast improvement on the original FX. The only minor issue I see is the chest plate seems to be sitting a little high, in one shot it looks as though the ab plate is going to pop out under it. I would lower the chest and at the same time see if I could raise the back, you may even be able to get the back to sit on the kidney as they weer on screen. Just my thoughts. Quote
Spaar[TK] Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 Looks like you had a lot of fun taking these pictures! Presenting the armor for the fist time is always a very "memorable" moment for the owner. I`d say: "Looks good, go on heading for EIB!" My suggestion would be you should try to close the gap between the chest and back/kidney plate if you really want to go for EIB. Only a little bit of your black underwear is shining through but it should not be seen at all. Maybe you could install some shims. Quote

Agreed - I'd lower the chest plate & raise the back plate. Good build. Quote
Billhag Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 Jani Looking good there mate, real nice set you have there, will look awsome when the new lid arrives I agree with Gary about the chest and ab.It looks like it needs the chest to come down or the ab to come up to eliminate any problems that you will have of it popping out as you move. If you can't do it by adjustment then you may want to consider splitting the cod and giving yourself some additional space/height by leaving a gap hidden behind your belt. If you decide to go for EIB, don't worry about the sides, you have no need for shims as they are virtually touching and the space showing is negligible Nice job fella, and good luck with your submission Quote
puro Posted August 18, 2010 Author Report Posted August 18, 2010 (edited) Keep 'em coming! Excellent suggestions. We had some problems getting the chest not to go too high, main problem there is that I don't exactly have the body type of ideal stormtrooper... One way around it was to put extra strap that allows the chest plate movement downwards, but will not allow it to go any higher. Incidentally the strap was not in place when these pics were taken (left it at home, d'oh). Excellent suggestions about the back etc. Thank you! Edited August 18, 2010 by puro Quote
tkrestonva[TK] Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 I've had the same problem in the past, as have other members. The solution is a couple of straps on the inside of the chest and ab plates, connecting the two. Billy came up with an excellent diagram showing exactly how it's done - it's around here somewhere.
