Question about the suits sides?

My question comes as Im starting to get my suit to a point where I can start to wear it without the need of additional hands or tape. Where the ab plate and back plate join together, Ive notice some people are using black elastic and snaps and others using what I gather as improvised "white" backings to make up for space and bring the two sides together.

 

Is there one style that is preferred by the 501st for membership? And which would be considered better for future FSID EIB status?

 

 

I dont know which way to proceed.

If you need to fill any noticeable gaps from front to back use White plastic for eib application. Any other usage you can use what you like.
