Hey everyone. Just got my ATA kit in this week. Going to start building the helmet on Sunday. Looking forward to start and join the ranks. I'll post some pics once I find the camera.

Are the ears that bad uh? Yeah I noticed the difference between the two sides. In my opinion, the right side looks the better than the left. But if I Have to get new ears, I guess I have to

Sorry I haven't been updating. I fixed the ear problem. I got some Bondo spot putty and some Backer Rod foam. Filled in the caps and sealed with spot putty. After a few coats and sanding I got it lookin pretty good. Going to start to paint within the week.

UPDATE TIME!!!!

 

I finally got around to the finishing touches on the helmet painting. Let me know what yall think. Also, I was so stoked about finishing I wanted to go out and get the paint for the tears, frown, etc...Well I ventured off to Lowe's. And after a few minutes wondering around the paint section, I couldn't find the Humbrol brand paint. Asked one of the associates working and said that he never heard of that brand and figured the store didn't carried it. So Wal-mart was next on the list. And wouldn't you know, they didn't have it either. Ticked off I went to one more place(local hobby store) and nothing, 0-3 on my search. Just ordered paint and tube stripes from TK-4510. So I'll have that soon.

For the Humbrol paints (or similar) you should check out a hobby shop or model shop.

Testors is a good alternative to Humbrol - and you can find it at just about any hobby shop that deals in model cars, airplanes, etc.

I now know about the Humbrol paint....and didn't have the Testors paint code. I did go to a hobby shop and he didn't have either paint. Didn't want to get the wrong shade of grey. I have order the paint plus tube stripes from TK-4510

The only paint code I can ever remember is the Testors Grey #1138. It just seems so appropriate.

how'd you paint the resin pieces so nicely? i paint them and the surface after the paint makes contact it gets all bubbly
