Hey, I am relatively...actually...really new to the trooping idea and I really am getting into it. I am about 5'10 and 230 pounds and need some help deciding which armor set would be best suited for my body build. I am trying to lose weight because, usually, bigger parts are more expensive. So, can anyone help me out?

Hi there,

Have you already taken a look at the sectin "Getting started - Read this first!"? There you can find a great thread presenting the various makers of armors and giving advices for body measurements. Maybe this could help for a first overview!

"I am trying to lose weight because, usually, bigger parts are more expensive."

Unless I`m very much mistaken the armors are normally not produced in different sizes. Maybe there are producers wich offer this service. Does anyone know?

Just usually, I mean sometimes with bigger clothes, it gets to be a bit more expensive and I didn't know if that translated over to armor. But looking at some of the makers apparently not. Thanks!

I just picked up an RT-Mod for my wife - she's 6'1" but slim. They fit bigger. In my search I didn't encounter a maker who sized things, they may exist but I didn't come across anyone.

As far as being 'larger' there is a lot of great information (with pictures) about armour builds and how to effectively use shims to enlarge areas.

If you're serious about loosing weight I'll help you out. I lost 70 pounds in the last 4 months (I'm now 210, 6'2" and back in rugby shape) - It wasn't easy but it was worth it. Just PM me and I'll give you all the info you like.

EDIT : haha - that sounded like a cheesy infomercial tag line ... I didn't mean that. I work in the health care field and have training in nutrition and am more than happy to give a fellow trooper some helpful advice

hey McGee - I should add that while I'm putting together my wifes RT I can't help trying things on and I'm really close to the limit of girth of the suit with-out shimming. Height seems a tad stretched but still ok.

Here's what fits:

thighs= 26 inches (a little tight)

waist / abdomen = 38 inches (right at the limit)

chest = 50 inches (not tight, as there is meant to be space but it looks a little odd)

biceps = 17 inches (flexed) it's pretty tight.

Hope that gives you an idea of what the RT can do right out of the box. And from having a read of the forums shimming is a breeze, and it looks like I'll be doing a bit of it when my turn comes.

I have no idea on the specifics of the other suits.
