zsavk[TK] Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 Good question. Im going to CV as well and was wondering how to get my TK armor there. Quote
JohnBlackk Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 (edited) I use this 45 gallon tote bin that I found at Target. I liked the price ($20) but I wish the wheels were more sturdy. They are made of plastic. --------- I have seen others use these from the Container Store: This one is very compact and I have been told that this makes it in under the limit for oversize luggage on some airlines. I have seen all armor fit in this box, minus the helmet. ($39.99) http://images.containerstore.com/images/catalog/6359/6359.jpg and Another one (42-gallon bin) from the Container Store that fits everything. ($49) http://images.containerstore.com/images/catalog/92477/StorItallTrunk_xl.jpg This 50-gallon Stanley portable tool box found at Home Depot: This fits everything easy, the structure is very strong and has a lock and key. You can even add pad lock type locks to the latches. (~$60) ----------- go to their websites for more information. Chunk[501st] Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 (edited) I use this 45gal Rubbermaid tub. I got it at Lowes Hardware for under $30. It holds all my tie pilot gear with room for extra. I'll use the same tub for my TK. But I do need to know what will bae suitable for airline travel as I wanna wear my Tie or Tk at Celb 5 ---------- Edited February 1, 2021 by gmrhodes13 link not working, removed gmrhodes13 2021 Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 you can get airline approved locks so that it will fly. you actually need em. Quote
C HERM Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 i love my Stanley 50gal! only thing, is that since its pretty big, it needs a little finagling to get it into most cars. if you have a truck it should be no problem at all. definitely an oversized item when flying. Quote
Chunk[501st] Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 What Im concered about it is the weight that will be piled on top of my tub during flight. These plastic tubs are great for local troops. But Blackwatch over in the JRS works for an airline & says that your tub shuold be able to withstand over 3800lbs on top of it. I'd hate to get to Florida & pick up my luggage only to find that my tub was crushed & my gear ruined. With it being square & having a flat top it would deffinatly go on the bottom of the luggage compartment. Im looking at teh Stanly rugged tub. But is that considered oversize? Also does anyone know what the norm is for ovarsize charge? Is it by weight or size? never flown with my gear. Quote
pandatrooper[TK] Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 (edited) There's a few threads discussing this topic as well, might be some useful info there --------- Edited February 1, 2021 by gmrhodes13 link not working, removed gmrhodes13 2021 Quote
