Yeah, my report via b-berry. Had some issues yesterday viewing the forum.

Friday evening report:

Saturday (so far)

Here are my 2 cents from C IV. Lots of fun and a great time is had by fans and volunteers alike. Not near as many 501st volunteers as expected, and volunteer schedules were somewhat of a mess, but overall GenCon is making things right. Crew badges were TK's (only way to go), and GenCon gave us our 4-day Vader badges back when we were done.

Hasbro asked the 501st to help them annouce the ComicCon figure, so I met up with a few others and we escorted R2-KT from the droid room to the Hasbro panel. Dargas was on the way and we picked him up, and met about a dozen more 501st at the room. We were lined up, and 18 of us (lots of 501st, all mixed costumes) escorted R2-KT into the room. I got to march lead with Dean P, and the cameras were blazing. R2-KT will be the exclusive ComicCon figure in San Diego this fall, in case you did not pick up on that already.

Hasbro was great to all the 501st who were there, and gave us all an exclusive C IV Luke for doing it, and promised to send us an R2-KT figure this fall.

Legion photo shoot was chaos. Seemed like no one knew what was going on, so the photo should be interesting.

However........

Our TK photo is awesome!!!! We marched over from the photo shoot to the laser tag hall, and we had 50-60 TK's all marching in line. What a sight to see. Ed and I carried the FISD flag, and everyone was snapping photos of us as we walked by. The actual photo looked great on the camera, and we should have something to upload shortly.

I spent about 20+ hours in armor from Thursday to Sunday (could have done much more). Taking tomorrow off to visit Disneyland with the family.

I am out for now, but I had to jump in for a few and see what was going on in the forums.

Later,

This was my first major con and it was spectacular for me and my sons. It was tiring and exhilirating at the same time. We usually retired around midnight every day. Long days volunteering and I didn't get to see some things I wanted to.

Most of all I met a lot of fantastic people on this site and around the world including (Steve Carter, Scott M, the Costa Ricans, French troopers) I hope I didn't forget anyone. I'm sorry if I didn't see you there. Some of the highlights were the skits we did as troopers including the escort Leia skit 3 times (my son the rebel fleet trooper got choked by Vader too!), the Han chases troopers skit (TK's are not meant to run long distances since we had several items fall off, but we had my 11 year old as handler picking up the pieces). The laser tag was a LOT of fun doing it non-stop with the kids we looked great and had a lot of comments from kids and adults who thought this was the coolest thing EVER (Steve Carter was there almost everyday it seemed!).

Here's a couple photos from our camera of our visit (note: most of these pics taken by one of my kids so appologies  ):

---------------

We look forward to doing it again next time too!

Sorry I missed out on the fisd photo. I was as done as done could be. I was in armor for each of the five days, no less than 10 hours a day. I loved it to say the very least:) I volunteered every day from door check to lazer tag. Lazer tag was a blast.

I was in the slave Liea mob and got a tri-pod up my bucket. Not much other than a bloody nose and a broken mic.

Hey, Don, they don't call me "Commando" for nothing! B)

Yeah, I had a blast everywhere I went. Fun and good times seemed to be all around.

And I really enjoyed meeting you and your sons. I am envious that your kids are involved with you. Mine are, shall we say, somewhat amused...

And, Ed, since this is "your" thread, I also want to say that it was a pleasure meeting you as well. You guys were awesome in the Trooper Olympics. Send me a pic of that framed scoresheet. I should have autographed it for you!!!!

Also thanks for drafting me into being one of the "models" for the costume panel. I was really quite honored by that, especially since my roomie was the Sandy model in his way-to-cool AP armor!

Steve,

Pleasure to meet you as well and thank you for the assistance in the armor panel. I'm sure the attendees appreciated a live visual example especially, someone everyone in the room could see.

I'll ask Cap Jones about the scoresheet and post once I have it.
