SW1 Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 Wow...like others have already said...an outstanding replica! Loving it Dan thats one of my fav lids , inform lord vader we have a prisoner. Quote
R2Dan[TK] Posted April 2, 2010 Author Report Posted April 2, 2010 I have a photo shoot in my TM soon, I'll take that lid along and have pictures made Ā As promised, here are the first pics of said photo shoot. I only got a small selection so far, I will get all the 300+ shots on a DVD tomorrow Didn't want to wait though: Ā Pics with the Dave M. replica: Ā And some with Paul's lid: Ā last but not least, a little show-off Quote
DarthChridan[TK] Posted April 2, 2010 Report Posted April 2, 2010 I don't know what to say...you to cracy for this galaxy Now, is'nt suitable with the armor lol Great pix Quote
R2Dan[TK] Posted April 12, 2010 Author Report Posted April 12, 2010 I love the last photo! Ā That was actually the photographer's idea (BH 4517) - he said I should bring all my lids along I asked for this: Ā And while I'm posting, here's a pic of the Dave M. replica on display at the 501st booth at this year's Jedi Con. picture taken by Mr. ObiHahn Ā We also had a brilliant time trooping together there: Ā helmet switcheroo: Ā Quote
troopermaster Posted April 12, 2010 Report Posted April 12, 2010 Nice one Dan! Ā I really like the weathering you did, evry nice. You should do the same thing to your armour Ā I like this shot. Screams ANH to me. No undersuit showing, bells tucked inside the chest, just awesome Quote
Obievon[501st] Posted April 12, 2010 Report Posted April 12, 2010 One thing is for sure. When TM uses the word "Awesome" in a reply.............Now That is Saying Something. "AWESOME MAN!!" Quote
R2Dan[TK] Posted April 12, 2010 Author Report Posted April 12, 2010 Nice one Dan! Ā I really like the weathering you did, evry nice. You should do the same thing to your armour Ā I like this shot. Screams ANH to me. No undersuit showing, bells tucked inside the chest, just awesome Ā Thank you Paul I'm still not sure wether I should weather my armour or let it happen naturally. I know I want it dirty - natural weathering looks more real close up, weathering it the way I did the helmet will make it look worn and old in no time... tough decision! Ā Yeah I really like that particular shot as well - but hey, I'm just the small guy sporting your armour, so a big part of the awesomeness is thanks to you really Quote
R2Dan[TK] Posted April 12, 2010 Author Report Posted April 12, 2010 I also really like this one, even with the damn knee sliding beneath the thigh again: Ā Ā looks classy, I'm going to use it on my Garrison trading card soon Quote
troopermaster Posted April 12, 2010 Report Posted April 12, 2010 Okay, I'll take some of the credit then Ā I know the armour would look really old if you gave it the same treatment as the helmet, that's what I like personally. But I guess it has to look good for trooping so best to let it weather naturally. I think if you added a pair of your latex hand plates though, it would look even more awesome Quote
R2Dan[TK] Posted April 12, 2010 Author Report Posted April 12, 2010 (edited) I agree with you, a weathered set would be amazing - and heck, all the Boba nuts do it as well, let alone them Sandtroopers - and it's screen accurate after all! - I might just do it! Ā I did wear a set of my latex handguards for some of the pics, but the only set I have ready right now is glued to a pair of gloves that is a bit too small for me... no fun wearing those! I'm getting some Plastidip (good stuff) soon and will paint a new set for trooping, then it'll be latex all the time... now that sounds kinky Ā Here's a pic with latex handguards: Edited April 12, 2010 by R2Dan Quote
stukatrooper Posted April 12, 2010 Report Posted April 12, 2010 Good little tip for non lasting weathering is to rub the suit with cheap newspaper, for the scuff marks use some rubber neck trim gives some great FX and reversable.top suit my friend and a great photo shoot. Quote
troopermaster Posted April 12, 2010 Report Posted April 12, 2010 Yeah, now we're talking! Ā You don't have to go crazy with the weathering, something like this guy on the left would be perfect. Quote
R2Dan[TK] Posted April 12, 2010 Author Report Posted April 12, 2010 (edited) Yeah, rubber trim would work - but my hyperfirm E-11 is doing a great job leaving scuff marks already Ā I really try not to be overly careful, so it's starting to dirty up already, but nowhere near to what we see on screen yet. Ā A lot of the weathering on the Dave M replica helmet there was done with crayons by the way - back to the (kindergarden) roots! Edited April 12, 2010 by R2Dan Quote
R2Dan[TK] Posted April 12, 2010 Author Report Posted April 12, 2010 (edited) Yeah, now we're talking! Ā You don't have to go crazy with the weathering, something like this guy on the left would be perfect. Ā I've gazed at that pic for ages already, pondering wether I should just go for it. It looks really nice! I've been there before, when I had that jumbo toy R2-D2 and felt it needed dirt... took time to actually do it though. But now that I have done it, I would never go back - it's probably the same with the TK. I'm scared to mess it up though Edited April 12, 2010 by R2Dan Quote
ObiHahn[TK] Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 Be bold and go dirty. Regular trooping dirt (natural weathering, if you will) just doesn't have the same effect some of the Tantive IV TKs show. But the way your Hyperfirm left marks on your armor would be a great start. After JediCon, my armor was a little scuffed up as well (you saw what my holstered blaster did to my left calf armor!) and I'm lovin' it! Quote
R2Dan[TK] Posted April 13, 2010 Author Report Posted April 13, 2010 Oh boy! You guys continue like that and I'll actually end up doing it It's extremely tempting... I'm off to check screen caps (once again ) Quote
RoCKo[501st] Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 (edited) WOW, that is a awesome suit, Dan! Ā i wish i had catched you at Jedi-Con! IĀ“ve seen hundreds of pictures and Paul knows i followed his ANH suit from the very beginning but i wasnĀ“t fortunate enough to see a TM suit with my own eyes yet! Ā Judging by the pictures itĀ“s definatly one of the best suits iĀ“ve seen so far! Great work, mate! Ā Ā btw. IĀ“ve seen your Dave M. helmet at Jedi-Con, what a beauty! Here is my attempt for the Dave M. helmet close to finish... Ā Edited April 13, 2010 by RoCKo Quote
R2Dan[TK] Posted April 13, 2010 Author Report Posted April 13, 2010 Well guys, you got me - I started dirtying up the armour. I'm pretty much done with the chest, it's not easy to photograph (especially with my crappy cam, but I tried: Ā Ā what do you think? Quote
ObiHahn[TK] Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 You're the man, Dan. Coming along nicely! Looks like you'll be the missing link between TKs and TDs. Quote
troopermaster Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 I like it Dan Ā There's no backing out now mate. You'll have to do the rest of the armour now Ā Can you tell us what you used to get the weathering effect so far? Quote
R2Dan[TK] Posted April 13, 2010 Author Report Posted April 13, 2010 Yep you're right... but I like where this is going, so that's cool Ā all I used so far was crayons (black, grey and brown) and water with a little drop of dark grey and black acrylic used as a wash. Oh and my hyperfirm E-11 Quote
stukatrooper Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 (edited) Nice one mate,You must have this picture of the super high res promo trooper suit.I believe paul replicated this suit some years back. Ā Ā Crayon sounds a good idea, last week i washedmy suit over with black Acrylic after it was dry i took it off with scrunched up news paper 99%,the 1% that was left looks fantastic with very fine black lines. Ā Edit dont forget them boots. Edited April 13, 2010 by stukatrooper Quote
