Feezle[501st] Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 (edited) What do you guys think of these as makeshift TK boots? I saw them for $20 and couldn't pass them up. They are quite comfortable. The only thing I'm concerned about is that they may be too short. The armor creeps up on them when I walk, but I didn't try them on with the thighs on and I'm thinking that might hold the calf pieces down. I'm torn as to whether or not I'm going to keep them. Has anyone used these particular boots before and if so, what is your opinion? ----------- Edited January 16, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed Quote
JohnBlackk Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 (edited) They look like they could work, but i think they would be better if that stitching wasnt above the midsole and on the midsole. have you considered just getting tkboots? tkboots.com ---------- Edited January 16, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed Quote
DarkTrooper[TK] Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 I say give em a shot. Paint em white and try to get that stitching on the sole black. Quote
pandatrooper[TK] Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 The toe is a bit too square for me from an authenticity standpoint, but it could work. Why not try them out and paint them white. It would meet CRL criteria if you could get everything white. Quote
Daetrin[Admin] Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Not perfect, but yeah I'd like to see them white before making a final call. I suspect they'll pass though. Quote
RogueTrooper[TK] Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Yeah they do look shorter that the regular Jodphurs and the TKboots...But, as you said, for $20, give it a shot! Don't forget to use a color preparer, so the boots will hold the dye well. Quote
Feezle[501st] Posted March 7, 2010 Author Report Posted March 7, 2010 (edited) After playing around with them a bit, I have decided to take them back and just get the TKboots. After I buy the dye and everything I'll have $30 into these, and the way the armor rides up, I see myself constantly worrying about my socks showing. Besides, that part of the boot would constantly be rubbing and I would have to touch them up a lot. $20 more and I can have perfect boots. Oh well. Thanks for the input though guys. bluehickey Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 Good call on taking them back, the soles looked pretty thin for trooping in. Quote
TK5144[TK] Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 (edited) I tried them on at Target. Not bad. I think the top of the boot would come out of the shin armor too easily, because they are too short. --------- about as tall as my cheseas (on the right of the picture) Edited January 16, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed Quote
