  1. Say if you are using three layers of ABS to make your hand plates, make one the base and have two layers for the main hand back. Then for the sloping secion, use one piece and maybe put some clay or a very thin strip of ABS against the main section to make the next piece slope. If I had photoshop I could do a diagram to explain better.
  2. I wondered how long it would be before this got out. Too bad The Prop Store got there before me Not to worry, there are more of these out there hiding. I just have to find one before anyone else does
  3. Great job on the assembly Chris! The whole thing looks amazing
  4. Glad you like it Steve. Took some doing mate, I can tell you. You don't realise just how much paint is actually chipped off the SFS helmet until you start doing the masking Overall I think it came out very nicely. I don't fancy doing another for a while though
  5. Yes Karin, that's the part I mean. If it sloped down toward the thumb intead of stepping down, it would look better IMO. It's a bit hard to explain but if you ran your finger across the hand plate from the section you highlighted in red, there should be an apex where the section slopes rather than a step where the two sections meet. Other than that, great job
  6. Check out the SFS helmet half way down this page: STARWARSHELMETS
  7. My only comment on improving your old hand plates is to make the section pointing towards your thumb slope on an angle rather than stepping down. It's only a minor flaw in your current set which can easily be rectified
  8. Your welcome Pete! I'm just glad more people are starting to think like me and want to have armour exactly how it was made back in the day. I hope we see many more truly screen accurate armours in the future.
  9. Absolutely phenomenal! This has got to be the best display I have ever seen Steve
  10. Dennis, Who is that to your right in the TM ESB?
  11. Well Steve, you better get that camera charged up mate because your helmet is on it's way to you today!
  12. I just can't keep away from this thread Steve. Your armour and display look amazing! @ trooper19838: Loakes are very close to what was used in ANH, but not ThE actual boots.
  13. If you want to make your thigh armour narrower, undo the back joining strip and tighten them up. Don't try to line the top of the inner with the outer piece as this will make them too wide for you. Most of the ANH thighs are mis-aligned at the backs and you just need to cut your joining strip at an angle to suit. Looking pretty amazing there Rich!
  14. WOW Dan! Looking fantastic there mate. Great photos too
  15. Top job on the boots Steve! They are going to look sweet on your mannequin. Loakes are not the boots that was used originally, but close enough. The real boots are no longer available as far as I know.
  16. The test shots of the Stormtrooper shows what is now the main belt attached to the lower thigh, so I don't the knee strap was put there to hide anything, especially as the armour was sculpted perfectly and it was just the assembly that was bad. It's things like these misaligned parts, doubled shoulder bells and hand plates that really make a replica look more screen accurate. I don't think there are many perfectly assembled troopers in ANH.
  17. Looking AWESOME Steve! @Karin, The shins are assembled like that because the inside part is actually the outside of the left leg which are slightly shorter. The screen used armour was thrown together and the shins were terrible on most suits (I like that) so I made mine the same. @Steve, Helmet on it's way very soon
  18. Why have you removed the other photo Joe? <comment deleted>
  19. There are no adjustable straps on this suit or the original ANH armour. The screen used armour was one size fits all. If you did not fit the armour, you did not wear it. But, you can strap this kit is such a way to fit a larger or smaller frame while keeping the original strapping set up. The straps on the shoulders are 2" white elastic. The MEPD have got it all wrong regarding these straps. It was hought years ago that these straps were canvas but they are elastic as seen in the photos from the LFL archives.
  20. We was down there a few months back racing motocross at the track which is located at side of the base.
  21. Post 'em up! As long as they are secret/behind the scenes kind of stuff that everyone hoards.
  22. As you can see above, the looped strap goes between the rivet and snap. The snaps are behind the first box on the belt so the strap has to be in the same spot on all belts, otherwise it would be in the way of the snap and the canvas belt wouldn't be able to attach to the abdomen properly. All I can say is that you should try and get your drop boxes to line up with the ends of your belt like they did in the movies. If you want to deviate from the original costume then that's your choice.
  23. Seeing how you hate hoarding of info and photos, I thought I would share this with the community I will be sharing more of your stuff in the near future. Watch out in the FS section!
  24. Here's a link to an original ROTJ/ESB helmet restoration. I had totally forgotten I had this and thought I would share it with you. Some of you will have already seen this but for those who haven't, enjoy *HELMET RESTORATION*
