  1. I haven't used that type myself but it doesn't look bad. For the price it's worth getting some and trying it out. I would go for the thicker personally and then double it up and it should be fine
  2. You can expect it to take at least a year to get it all done. It took me about two years before I had a plastic suit to wear but I lost interest in the project a few times and many months would go by without doing any sculpting. I left the helmet while last too. It isn't as hard as you think to get the basic shape but the fine tuning will take forever The helmets are such a weird shape and not symetrical at all. The armour is basically body shapes with a few bits and bobs added and once you get the first set of moulds made you can easily do the hard work of getting them movie accurate. It isn't hard but it is very time consuming if you are going for accuracy but I can say it is well worth the effort and a great hobby
  3. They are put on using the full strip You can see the full strip of four buttons and the other big box with the buttons is all one piece.
  4. You should have two panels with the buttons on unless you got TD kit?
  5. Most have 4 each side, but some have 5 and some 3. It's not just the hero helmets that have 3
  6. I've got the Shire's Woodstock boots in the bottom link and they are very nice boots. They are not exactly the same as the originals but very close with two pull up straps on each boot rather than one. They are cheaper on ebay but not much. I think I paid ?19.99 plus shipping then maybe another ?10.00 on white leather shoe spray paint and white fabric dye for the elastic sides.
  7. Looks awesome man! You only need to wear the holster on the other side Chazz. The holster's are the same in both ANH and ESB just worn on the other hip. ESB hand guards are here waiting for you
  8. Looks good but why have the rivets and no holster?
  9. The straps look like natural leather rather than dyed and are riveted to the belt and holster.
  10. I don't think any amount of trimming will allow you to put the helmet on straight down over your head. All movie helmets have to be put on sideways, even the hero's. It's just the way it is as the respirator part is supposed to tuck under your chin. There is nothing wrong with foam for a liner. I use it along with an elastic chin strap the same as the originals. The ROTJ helmets had hard hat liners they can be fitted
  11. Just a 'heads up' about the SWR150. It's not the same stuff that they used to sell a year ago which I found out recently when I bought some and had to send it back. It is much thicker and rounder than before so just letting you know
  12. lol you beat me to it
  13. I think they are pretty spot on if you ask me, though a Hengstler should be optional as not all stormtrooper's had them.
  14. I use metal clips and just slip the thermal detonator onto my belt.
  15. That's a lovely helmet JM.Send it to me and it will have babies
  16. I've been following this project from the start and would love one of these helmet's.It's a shame Alan couldn't finish this himself but at least things are moving on.I hope to see this sculpt turn into hard plastic very soon -Paul.
  17. Yeah your a real pain in the butt plate sometimes (j/k) Chazz your helmet looks great and will look even better with the eyes trimmed back.Mine is weathered exactly the same as the original and has since lost more paint here and there as it is peeling off.I just touch up the areas with more beige and make it look more weathered.Get some more pics up mate,I for one would love to see them and I'm sure others would too
  18. The belts are made from poly webbing and about 2" wide.I have lots of photos that I took of the tour suit in London at the Barbican center in '99 (I think ).It was a bit battered but so was the other one I saw in Sheffield which was the one that was sold at Christies in '97.The tour suit's were made from same moulds as the original ROTJ moulds, though some are definately bad recast's especially the one on show at Disney. The butt plates are the same as ANH really, just formed as one piece with the kidney plate. The corners of the kidney are rounded off and the butt only looks rounded off due to the vinyl edging. Also, notice how the armour is squashing where Han is grabbing it in the screen shots...very soft and flexible if you ask me.
  19. Looks great Chazz...really nice I would still trim the eyes right back with almost no 'flash' showing in the sockets but other than that it's spot on!Here's a pic of my ESB replica of the same helmet that I said I'd show you
  20. I don't know about anyone else, but a full plastic hook would do for me.It is only for show and could be spray painted to look metal. As long as it looks good on the belt,I'd be a happy trooper
  21. Hey Nathan, Any updates on the grappling hook mate? I'm almost ready to form my mould for the belt box and would like a nice hook when it's ready I'll take some pics as soon as my box is formed and mounted on my belt.I also think that the box could be made to hold the RomFX or other kind of voice changer. -Paul.
  22. Good idea Simon I've tried riveting the snaps to the belt but it always fouls when I try and snap the other half.I think the problem is that I'm using small snaps like the one's that were used on the original '77 armour,I'm sure the bigger 'camping' style snaps would do the job.I think I'm gonna make a new belt now and add the snaps to a single layer like you suggest, before I sew them together.I'll just have to make sure I get the placement right to fit the snaps on my ab plate Oh yeah, welcome over here Si!
  23. Hey the holster's are only really for show so it doesn't matter that much I've only seen Han and Luke with their blaster's holstered in ANH as all the trooper's are carrying their blaster's.Wear it on whatever side you like, just remember the mag will catch your thigh if you don't turn it the opposite way around.
  24. All the blaster's are made from the same base gun so it doesn't matter which film your going for, they will all holster the same.I suppose you'd have to point your blaster backwards if your wearing your holster on the right hip.
