Polishing armor that won't damage ABS???
ABS80 replied to TK71169's topic in Tutorials, Tips and HOWTOs
We are talking about white plastic not painted, most makers including me use white gloss ABS plastic to make armors its not painted, not sure what acetone vapor polish process is but I know as a fact that Acetone on ABS plastic will ruin finish. Mark (AP) -

WHAT! not sure were you got that from NEVER use acetone base products on plastic will ruin finish, just simple car polish. Mark (AP) -
The movie suits were paper thin and small elastics would help keep back closed to a certain degree, but .80 gauge ABS theres way too much resistance elastics will be useless, keep it as is , you can see in then movie the back just opens up. Mark (AP)

Instead of adding a clearcoat just polish the ABS using car buffing products, anything painted on ABS armor will eventually chip/flake off

Per movie original you need to completely trim off the raised edges on both sides, the AP biceps are purposely made much bigger than the movie original to fit most, look at movie suit biceps they have pratically the same circumference as top of forearms.
-
Your bicep look too big they should fit snug around biceps this will also help shoulder bells sit properly, AP biceps are bigger then original to accomodate most but to be movie size accurate you need to completely trim the raised areas on both sides and reapply strips of course if they will fit you that way but thats teh accurate look. Those Td clips are way to wide and you can make frown hole on helmet bigger
-
no need to trim, by looking at the gap at knee they look perfect
-
I dont think you will need to trim top of thighs unless your under 5.8"
-
Great job!!!! I would trim off the big tab on the rear of the shoulder straps, my shoulder straps are actually much longer to fit larger troopers if required, the movie original had no big tab on the rear. Mark (AP)
-
Yes Actually my shoulder straps have a extra small tab and a big one for larger trooper.

TK-84881 Requesting ANH Stunt Centurion Status (ATA) (474)
ABS80 replied to Labaki's topic in Request Centurion Status
Look how small the belt cover caps should be, there's actually space on each side of the cap, IMHO this should be adressed like the AB buttons, I see many details less obvious than this being scrutanized -

Those belt cap covers are huge and eye soring! the middle cap cover shouldnt touch the boxes there should actually be space on each side, the cap seems the same size as the belt boxes but I guess its approvable if it wasn't mentioned -

The shoulder straps are way too long that big tab on the rear shouldnt be present should be small like the rest, the 3 belt cover caps are way oversized I see much emphasize on the ab buttons being too big that should equally apply for the belt cover caps and I see no notches on the side of the Kidney plate isn't it required for centurion? -
NEVER USE A HEAT GUN!!!! As soon as you overheat the ABS it will instantly warp beyon repair, a customer screwed his whole helmet using a heat gun to reshape the ears while on helmet it was a costly mistake he had to buy a completely new helmet It will be pretty darn expensive to ship a new AB plate to AUS

Nice job helmet looks great!!!! Please look at the original movie armor part sections, all armor parts are pretty wonky all the asymetries you see are actually movie accurate, same for the ears the left and right have completely different shape as you have noticed and will not sit the same. Mark (AP)
-
Yes but I only offer the classic ANH troopers
-
Mark, again thank you for your patience hope it was worth the wait, for the inner drop boxes just apply some E6000 glues all around top edge of inner boxes and insert in outer boxes, trust me once glue set they will be secure thats how I build mine Mark (AP)

Yes but you can remove more
-
yes trim more at the elbow so the arch is wider Mark (AP)

TM Troopermaster has recast CFO cast from original.
ABS80 replied to sskunky's topic in Recasting Discussion
This is sad news!!!! wasn't there a debate between Gino and Paul regarding TM Stunt helmet? I remember Paul claiming he had sculpted his Stunt helmet but Gino was convinced he had recasted a TE way too many tells to be a original sculpt Mark (AP) -

Thats because he sharpened those section therefore the pulls are sharper, this reminds me of the GF vs AFX armor recast debate, thank fully GF was able to prove AFX had recasted his suit because GF had used a Canadian coin as a tell on the belt deatil which were present on all AFX suits.
