Need criticism for my Anovos Hero..
ABS80 replied to justjoseph63's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I looked it up 20 years ago! eye bump are only on stunt helmets no hero helmet had a bump on the right eye, you just learned something new today -
for the inside helmet padding just buy some foam strips with peel and stick at Home Depot, it comes in rolls in comes in different width, just cut to side, peel backing in stick in place, will look neater and professional looking https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.closed-cell-sponge-rubber-tape.1000426143.html https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.closed-cell-foam-tape-self-adhesive-weatherstripping.1000113284.html Mark (AP)

Need criticism for my Anovos Hero..
ABS80 replied to justjoseph63's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Because of Anovos super wide frown its not the ideal helmet to convert to hero, looks weird in my humble opinion, to improve the look you should cheat and compensate by repainting the grey section on frown a bit thinner, remove more material around eye sockets so bubble lenses stick out more, no bump should be visible on right eye, the black chin should be completely stripped down and repainted to correct hero shape and a lower rubber eye brow trim. -
not worth the $$$
-
First off its not movie accurate, looks like a reworked recast, the one piece makes it look really cheap/toyish, reminds me of a cheap halloween helmets, all the separate components with visible seams and screws is what makes it look like a real functional helmet, its easier/cheaper to cast in one solid resin piece, TBH not worth spending $125 for a non accurate resin helmet which will require to be fully painted white, I see no positive aspects beside not needing assembly. Lumps and bumps on (i.e) RS helmets
ABS80 replied to humperdingle's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Just to be clear all the wonkiness and all the asymetries don't bother me at all, thats what gives the look and character we love so much about the ANH helmets, after all these were hand sculpted and are unique piece of art work, its the bump/ lumps that really bother me. Mark(AP) -
Lumps and bumps on (i.e) RS helmets
ABS80 replied to humperdingle's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
All the bumps and lumps were not intentional, lets face it in a real SW universe with super advanced technologie the troopers wouldn't look that crappy! when the average fan sees a trooper in person it should look like a high tech equipment which would be more logical and realistic, if your a purist and want exactly what was used on set and a exact replica I perfectly I understand, but to honestly say that you actually like all the lumps and bumps I don't think so, the only reason you accept it its because the original helmets had them, lets say for example there was two version of stunt helmets used in the movie which had exact screen time and in exact same scenes the only difference being that some had all the bumps/lumps and some no bumps/lumps all with same assymetries which is not in question here, the only differences being the bump/lumps, I'm quite sure that if you had only one of the two versions to choose from the ones with no bumps/lumps would be preffered, with all that being said I prefer no lumps or bumps Mark (AP) -
Anovos kit vs completed ensemble
ABS80 replied to RTrooperAlex's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
3 x the price because trimming/assembling requires a ton of more work, if you don't have the skills or patience get the ready to wear but it comes with the price tag and you will still need further custom adjustments, no out of box ready to wear armor will fit perfect. -
noooooooo it will melt on you lol!!!!!

S Trim on Helmet coming undone glue?
ABS80 replied to Dekard's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
any CA superglue will work -
All the originals had no lips on the front tab, trust me I did my research and to be even more accurate you have to completey trim off the rear big tab and two small ones, but I leave it for sizing purposes.

Anovos and RS side by side.

Like I said it from the beginning and also to Paul, the back plate is completely different, the whole box difference shape, the circle totally different design, shape and size. Mark (AP) -

Anovos and RS side by side.
ABS80 replied to TK bondservnt's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
So RS is a mismatch of fan sculpt parts and real part casts? -
always look at movie suit details before trimming, theres tons of refference photos right here on the forum Mark (AP)

ANOVOS build question - rear leg trimming
ABS80 replied to BadBatch's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Some of the movie suits had notches but some way over do it and accurate, if your aiming for centurion be carefully were and what you trim off. Mark (AP) -
AP armor builds almost ready to go, I never get tired of these. You can see the size differences between each armor, counting from the left the second armor is the biggest and the 3rd one is movie size, you can see the size difference by comparing the side gap and edge of belt spacing. Mark (AP)

Because the original were vacuumformed not resin cast or injection molded ect... the originals had no Velcro or hard hat liner and a much simpler lens system, Anovos helmet is made to look like a better consumer friendly product . Mark (AP)

What in the world have I got?
ABS80 replied to meekerscott's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I never said they didn't recast a RS suit I said some parts are totally different, especially backplate and some other parts which don't even match the movie suits how can they match RS! your saying they scanned or recast a full RS suit so how do you explain the completely different back plate? I'm not talking sharpness the whole box and the OII are totally different. I saw the helmet in person and there was not a single detail that proved it was scanned off a RS, the ears are totally off ect... and your also saying they used a RS helmet as a base LOL! there is so many helmets they could have used as a base, Anovos helmet is so heavily modified you couldn't tell if they scanned mickey mouse head! -
What in the world have I got?
ABS80 replied to meekerscott's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I saw Anovos in person, I must say the overall quality is actually pretty good, maybe they did recast some parts from RS but the end results is very different from a RS, they look overly modified, it looks like they 3D scanned everything and exaggerated sharpness on all parts, many parts are completely different from movie suit especially the back plate, the helmet is definitely not a RS or any other fan helmet and is the weakest part of the suit definetely doesn't originate from a original helmet, if so it was heavily modified during the 3d and cleaning process.
