  1. Cut it like this in back and push the bottom out. Redrill a new hole and it shoud look a bit better. First cut it and then see how it fits...
  2. Who is he? COL SANDURZ He's an a very impolite person, sir. DARK HELMET I know that. What's his name? COL SANDURZ That is his name, sir. a very impolite person, Major a very impolite person. DARK HELMET And his cousin? COL SANDURZ He's an a very impolite person, too, sir. Gunner's-mate, 1st Class, Philip a very impolite person. DARK HELMET How many Assholes we got on this ship, anyhow? ALL Yo! DARK HELMET I knew it. I'm surrounded by Assholes. (pulls down mask) Keep firing, Assholes.
  3. the clips used for the little mirrors that hang over the sun shades in your car will work as well. Most stores carry those "make up" mirrors.
  4. I used pop rivets. They are your best friend. I pop riveted the "TD" right to my belt. It looks great and never EVER comes off. Just make sure its centered
  5. I agree with butah fett to a point. We shouldnt be getting elitist. That usually tears a club apart in the end. Some people cant spend anymore on the armor and helmets they have. Its an option as far as I can see. I hate the FX and I think it looks just plain silly on a trooper, but hey, if you like it then keep it. Who are we to get all high and mighty about it. I say for now FISD need to stay put. Dont push new members away. This forum still has a long way to go.
  6. Thats funny I have assembled many helmets with 150 and never had a problem. I think the rumor mill is running overtime....Maybe thats why I think they never ran out!!!! Maybe they do only ship 150, but really its not that different.
  7. I just ordered it a month ago. Its stil available. I actually have only ordered my rubber trim from Seals Direct. I have never tried anyone else. I HAVE ATTACHED A SCREEN SHOT
  8. AP kits dont have accurate neck trim. Seals direct sells something close
  9. I know you didnt ask, but TE2 is a good option. its Styrene, but its way more accurate than AP. Customer service is great too.
  10. I would go AP. TM is too expensive because of shipping. TM's a better choice as far as looks go, but remember too that its styrene not ABS. AP seems to make more sense for us stateside guys
  11. Take a pencil and draw a line around the ear following the "A" line you mentioned. using an exacto knife, lightly score the line over and over again 4 or 5 times. Then score a line from the line around the ear to the edge of the ABS part ( kind of like ant legs...) Put the ear on the edge of a table and line the score mark up and give it a snap. Do that all around the ear until all the cut areas are off the ear.... Does this make any sense at all??? Then once the ear is in its basic shape take an exacto knife along the edges and just clean it up a bit. As far as fitting the ears to the helmet. Assemble the cap n back to the face plate using pop rivets. Once the two are assembled, get the correct ear for the correct side and firmly hold it in place on the side of the helmet. Look and see where it needs to be trimmed. Refer to screen shots of actual helmets for trimming. Most peope tend to leave too much meat on the upper part uf the ear. Go to starwarshelmets.com and look at the helmets there. The real helmets, not the fan made stuff. Once you have the ear shaped correctly, put the ear on a table that you can drill through and make your holes. Hold the ear up to the helmet firmly where you want it placed. Again use reference photos for placement. While holding the ear in place drill ONE hole through the helmet using the upper hole in the ear. Secure the ear with a screw and washer and bolt. Now again holding the ear firmly against the helmet drill the lower hole into the helmet. Secure that screw. Lastly drill the hole in the middle of the ear and secure. Once all the screws are in hand tight, move on to the other side of the helmet and repeat. After the ears are in place tighten the screws just enough. Too much and the helmet will start to distort. Good Luck!

Why do you have to use foul language? You know if you offered the DVD for something reasonable, it would sell like hotcakes. By the way....As was said before, there is NO DVD that cant be cracked. If someone is charging you that kind of money to burn DVD's your getting ripped off.

  17. Hey Paul, can you PM me a price on the helmet???
  18. Well I say, since the TE is a recast and the Gino is a recast.... Then who cares what TM did..... Its still a sharper helmet.
  19. Hmm. If you open that can of worms again it may not be too good. But as long as you asked.... I did ask myself that question. I regard myself as a person who is always looking for good opportunities. I think that Matt has been that way as well. If Matt had only been interested in making the armor himself, he never would have offered it to GF, Gino, Guns, and now Dan? He never would have offered the fiberglass STS molds to anyone either. No, thats something a business minded opportunist (like myself) might do. He got the molds, he made deals, he traded, he sold, he quit, and came back with new and improved......thats a business mans attitude. Not a hobbyist. So, I guess to answer the question....I wouldnt feel like I got ripped off in the least. He has created the monster, now it follows him and haunts him. Thats not anyones fault, but his. All he has to do to make these people go away is to move on and forget this whole thing. But being an opportunist (like me) he cant. The days of charging primo fee's for armor are coming to a close my friends. Our economy is slowing, inflation is taking hold, the housing market is crashing, and soon disposable income will become less. Thats one reason (for me anyway) The other reason is.... The only time that something is considered rare and special is when it really is rare and special. The ANH armor is no longer a rare find. Matt has a new improved set coming from Dan. Then there is Gino's up and coming. Then there is the best man of them all, Guns ANH TE2 armor. Then there is the AP armor. Then we have SDS armor. And last but not least the sea of recasters. MAtt himself has made the one special thing he had to offer now common place. He will never see prices like he once commanded. I have also heard that Matt is a great guy. I have talked to a few people and they always say that he doesnt come across as himself on the boards. Thats pretty true of all of us to some degree. We have heated discussions here, but nobody resorts to making physical threats to anyone. Nobody except Matt. I dont personally have an interest in Matt as a buddy outside of this hobby, becuase this is what we share in common. Not much different than having a golfing partner or bowling buddies. Everyone I know in my Star Wars universe is pretty much just my Star Wars buddies. I have never done anything with anyone in this circle that was not hobby related. Im sure others have, but I am answering the questions here In closing of my ramblage..... I am very interested in what Matt has experienced. As well as Gino, and Dan, and Mike, and Dave. We all want to know, becuase we havent had the opportunity to live it, see it, feel it, or wear it. Its up to the above listed guys to want to share with us what they know. To let us in on the secrets and let us know what it was like. Thats what this thread is all about. 99% of us will never hold a real helmet, or see the archives. Try and remember that when you start getting tired of people asking you all these questions. There's no need to be cynical. We are all buddies here.
  20. Awesome Matt. Thanks for answering these questions. Aaaaaaaaaaah feels so good. This is the only Steve Johnson I could find that had any involvement with Star Wars.....so far. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0426276/ So this is really coming together now. We still would like some pics, but I am NOT complaining Oh, sorry one other question Matt. Did You get the Hand guards from Cameron too, or were those tour parts as well? So to clarify and bring us up to date... 1996 Matt buys ROTJ armor parts from CO. CO obtained them from Steve. Matt hires Dan to cast the molds of the original ROTJ parts. Soon afterward Matt and Mike make a transaction with Gino and Dave for the ROTJ molds. Matt gets GF to do a ANH set and it is not up to par. Matt uses his parts that Dan has made and combines them with tour parts to make TE ANH armor. in 2005 Matt sells his molds to Guns. Freaking awesome gents!!!!
  21. I had no idea that the TE armor originated from Cameron Oakley. That makes sense though. Wow, its a small world. I gotta get ahold of Cameron Oakley somehow. More goodies http://theswca.com/images-repli/cameron-helmet.html http://theswca.com/images-repli/cameron-trooper-close.html So if Cameron had the whole set. Why did Matt only get a few parts?
  22. "Steve moved to Australia and took the moulds (or original suit) with him so he could make a few more complete suits" So he actually is THE guy. right? Did the bondo hold up very well, when you guys packed the armor with it? It seems more brittle than say ultra cal
  23. uh, what do you mean by packed? I dont get it. According to this link. the original molds came from a guy named Steve Johnson. http://theswca.com/images-repli/cameron-armor.html So does this mean that Cameron Oakley actually recast the armor he got from Steve Johnson. Did he buy the armor from Steve. Does anyone know how to get ahold of Cameron?
  24. Phew! Thanks TE, That was like popping a zit. It hurt to get to it, but damn it feels good now. Ugh.
  25. Dan you can you tell us what you know about the armor and molds that you worked on please?
