  1. Thanks man, that was from Comic-Con 2006. Yes it was a pain to put together too! Thats my daughter on the right there with her clone. The bucket was a heavily modified Mario and the armor was MG. The shoulder bells were MH Unk armor as well as the hand guards. I sold it shortly afterward.
  2. I just masked mine off so no glue would get past the seam and used black ABS glue (thats all I had on hand) and it worked great.
  3. If you do a search on here there is plenty of advice on how to assemble the AP armor. Just thought I would point that out.
  4. Good Advice
  5. Yes, thats a good idea!
  6. No a ROTJ is completely different. and upside down too... Can anyone post more ANH shots of the ab plate? Maybe even more detailed?? That one is great (best I have seen so far).
  7. Correct!!!! See what I mean? Anyone got a shot of the AP now?
  8. Does anyone have any up close shots of an ANH ab plate? I think the buttons and ribs are a bit different on the ANH ab plate than the current offerings by AP. HD grabs may work as well. Anyone???
  9. lookin' good!
  10. Yes and now that I see the light.... I think this thread is prolly a bad idea. Sorry man
  11. I think I would just like to keep it simple. I have seen alot of people really gear their helmets out and add all kinds of stuff to them, but I prefer to just keep it simple and clean. The HDPE screen used helmets were primered rust red and then painted white so they are a bit red inside. The hero's were ABS and clean inside. I kinda like it that way. Just my opinion.... As far as the lenses are concerned I learned a cool trick. If you double up the acetate (meaning two layers) it tends to have a mirroring effect from the outside. you can still see through it OK and your eyes are not so visible. you can also go and buy a green cutters shield and cut that to fit in your helmet. Nobody will ever see your eyes with that!
  12. hehe thanks. I can tell its a recast because the only persons making ANH helmets in ABS are AP and SDS. RT's dont count..because the cap n back is in two parts. PLUS its a loose pull. AP would be showing the fifth tooth and have much more detail. Same with SDS. Its a recast.
  13. I hesitate posting this as I am tired of the maelstrom of the topic, however.....I cannot resist at the same time....I need help.... (Edit)
  14. "That's good. You have taken your first step into a larger world."
  15. I wouldnt paint the inside of my helmet.
  16. Thanks guys. I had alot of fun doing it. Having a great helmet like the TE2 made it even more fun. I would like to do an even more accurate helmet when time permits, but this one turned out pretty nice too! As I look at it now, I see stuff that I would like to fix (of course!) like..... The rank on the left hand ear is actually on the fourth rib not on the third rib as it is on the right hand side. I put them both on the third rib, DOH! And I need to fix the vocoder still... Its not quite right. I would also like to put the foam in and the elastic chin straps, then there is the............ well I guess we are never really done are we??
  17. Yeah, there are pre existing dimples from casting the original Wonky is another term for an uneven alignment or just crooked or warped. You know??
  18. OK... we are done. I would like to thank Starwarshelmets.com (Jez), Gino, TE, TE2 ( Especially YOU for this awesome helmet!!!!), Chris, Mike H, Seth, and everyone of my buddies here on FISD and MEPD. Here's the comparison shots of the Dave M helmet and The TE2. AND NOOOOOOO ITS NOT FOR SALE!!! This just goes to show you that anyone can do this with some preparation and patience. Just take your time and do it right. I hope I have done this great helmet justice.
  19. OK the last thing is the rubber trim. This is the trim from seals direct in the UK. It was also part of the kit. I see that I am going to need to trim my helmet to make the rubber fit nicely. Use a utilty knife to trim away the excess plastic. Start the rubber in middle of the chin area and work your way around...
  20. Now I need to put in the green acetate. There are many types of lense materials out there, but for the purpose of this tutorial I will be using the acetate that was provided in the kit. Just put a couple of pieces of tape on either end and stick it in the helmet.
  21. Now we need to do the Mic Tips. Just drill a 9/64 sized hole in the dimples of the helmet that you can see here. I drill the same size holes in my mic tips centered. These self tapping screws and washers are all that you need to hold in the mic tips. Screw em' in and line them up. I wanted to match the Dave M helmet so I made mine a bit wonky. You can make yours straight if you like..
